SMU at home is a nice way to start conference play. They are currently 10-2 with an RPI of 61 and a KenPom rating of 45. They are about as a good on offense as they are on defense (54 in adjusted O and 49 in adjusted D).

Their two losses are @Arkansas (by 11) and vs Virginia (by 3) at Corpus Christi. Their best win to date is probably on the road against Wyoming, along with neutral site wins over Texas A&M and TCU.

Nick Moore looks like their most important player. He is a 5' 9'' guard who averages 14 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists a game in 32 minutes. He shoots 53% from the field and 55% from three. Guyn, Caupain and Johnson will have to guard him tightly.

In the front court they have Yanic Moreira (4-star JUCO) and Markus Kennedy, both who are averaging around 10 points and 6 rebounds. Jackson and Rubles will be challenged.

A wildcard could by 5-star top 20 recruit Keith Frazier, he is a 6' 5'' shooting guard getting only about 17 minutes a game. They also have Kansas State transfer Nick Russell.

Overall, I am quite impressed by the talent on this roster. Larry Brown has surely done a great job getting recruits to come to Dallas and play for SMU.

Cincinnati at home, playing quite confidently, should have enough to win this game. It probably will be back and forth...but I see the Cats pulling away late.

Yesterday's victory was cause for optimism. It was a great team victory. The opponent was respectable. The offense looked far better than what we've seen recently. The defense was its usual strong self.I think your prediction of 68 points on offense is pretty accurate, although I would love to see a second straight game over 70 points. I think our defense will hold them lower than 64. I look more for a score in the neighborhood of 70 to 57.

That would be VERY impressive. SMU is one of the better teams we've played this year and they do have that HOF guy.

Agreed. I wouldn't be surprised if they made the tournament this year. I looked at their schedule and they end the year with UofL at home, and @Memphis. Those two games very well could determine their fate. I actually think this could be a 5 bid league. UC and SMU are definitely battling for the 4/5 spots, meaning we will probably see this team 3 times this season.

If they're smart, they'll put all their Bigs on the court and see what we do.

Larry Brown is as smart as they come, so we'll see. A coach with his knowledge, acumen, and reputation is great for the conference... but I find it a bit intimidating as well. I'm sure Cronin isn't intimidated, but I would be haha. I guess that's why I'm not a D-I coach.

Mick has beat Huggins, Boehim and Pitino and Calhoun I don't think he will be intimidated.

That is what the AAC said about Coach Tuberville before the season as well.

It has nothing to do with "intimidation" Jeff. SMU is actually a pretty good team. This will be a close game...but in the end all that matters is getting the W.

It amazes me how many UC fans are writing off Tuberville after one season.

I think he can continue the level of success we had under Butch Jones. I don't think he can do what Brian Kelly did, but if we get an invite to the ACC or Big 12, I think he is capable of taking us to a BCS game.

I thought this was a thread about the SMU game lol. It will be cool to see Larry coaching but let's be real, I like seeing Mick on our side. No way in hell is he intimated..that is comical.

I think in fairness to the original poster, he said that he personally would be intimidated at coaching against Larry Brown, not that Mick would be intimidated.

Yeah, that was me. I said I would be intimidated, but doubt Cronin will. There is no doubt that Larry Brown is a great coach and is already elevating the SMU program. Even if he leaves in 2 or 3 years, they are in good shape between the new conference affiliation and the recruits he is bringing in. Good for both SMU and the AAC.

I am in no way writing off Coach TT, not sure where that came from. Just was reiterating a statement made by the conference that was identical to what was said about Larry Brown in this thread. Ie. That Coach TT is good for UC and the league because of his reputation, acumen etc.

Why is it that everyone always mentions the HoF coaches Mick has defeated, but there's never any mention of some of the coaches he has lost to. I realize that you probably don't remember the names of the coaches of Presbyterian, Marshall, Belmont, Illinois St. Bowling Green, Wofford, and all the bottom feeders of the BE, etc., but we certainly shouldn't be mentioning the one group and conveniently ignoring the other group. If you consider the second group, then maybe, just maybe, there might be some intimidation. Just a thought.

1. Tuberville was a horrible hire.

2. Cronin isn't going to intimidated by any coach.

3. Get the rest of your nonsense off this thread. God, this L-T character truly is a moron.

Resume the talk about the game on Wednesday pls.

Sorry, I thought that was sarcasm implying his reputation and such was over-hyped. My apologies.

I'm sure Larry Brown has his share of losses to no-name coaches as well. Maybe he's intimidated playing Mick Cronin.
