While we debate and celebrate wins I'm worried about the team's health and depth. What should have been a strength is depleted. Strickland is unavailable, Lawrence may or may not need surgery, Mormon is hurt and redshirting, Davis transferred and GG has a shoulder issue.

Thomas has to step up and rebound. He could play some 4 with Sanders at the 3 against Rutgers or the other way around. Also wouldn't surprise me to see some zone in the next few games.

Jackson, Rubles and Big Dave have to stay out of foul trouble. Sanders and Thomas have to rebound and the guards have to take pressure off the bigs.

Rutgers isn't well coached but they have some talent. I'm glad we're at home with a depleted roster. How big is Strickland not being eligible now?

agree Jeff. Kids were settling nicely into their roles. All that changes with the injuries.

It will be interesting to hear Lawrence's status after he visits a specialist today. I hope GG should isn't too bad. I dont think he came back in after he went out. We can't afford anymore thats for sure.

Mick talked about it last night and it is an even bigger issue with Lawrence out for the time being. Jackson and Rubles can't get silly fouls. No illegal screen fouls, no reaching in 90 feet from the basket to get silly fouls. We are a different team with Jackson on the Bench.

Does turf toe require surgery? That would really stink

I had turf toe in HS and if that is in fact what Lawrence has I'd be very surprised if he needs surgery. The first option with turf toe is always to use a walking boot and let the injury heal itself. It's like an ankle sprain so you just need to give it time. The problem with turf toe is if you don't give it enough time to completely heal then it has a tendency to re-occur.

The only way he'd require a surgery is if he has a full tear of a ligament or a bone spur or something like that.

Fingers crossed that it's just moderate case of turf toe and he'll be ready to go in about 2 weeks.

We should be able to get through the next 4 games without him. I really hope he's ready to go for Louisville.

Cronin said if Lawrence comes back this season its a bonus....and boom goes the dynamite

I'm going to assume Lawrence will not be a key player in UCs future going forward. Some guys are just injury prone and are always dealing with something. Not trying to knock him and I hope I'm wrong and just being pessimistic, but that's what I think. He's been hurt 3 years in a row, why believe something will be different?

Bill just took quotes from Mick's radio show. I do not think much has changed since he went out. If Lawrence is 100% he'll play, if not he will not play. Without Lawrence, I do not see Cincinnati winning the league, Rubles and Jackson will both be in foul trouble in big games...

That's a tough break. JL needs the court time for his development. Sanders and Shaq might/will see extra minutes. If they can produce like they did against Rutgers (20pts combined) then the Cats might be able to weather this.

Next year with DeBerry, Strickland, Clark, Moore, and a hopefully healthy JL we'll have some more bigs to rotate - short on experience, but the depth is nice.

I agree. I hope it's not true, but usually players who continually get hurt don't stay healthy too long. With that said, there's no saying he can't be a key contibutor while he is playing. Reasons like this are why I just don't get redshirting someone just to redshirt someone. I know Mormon got hurt anyway and he doesn't play the 4, but we are down to 9 players now. Hopefully Lawrence can come back. He has grown alot since the start of the year and I was looking forward to his progression come March.

Yeah, Nyarsuk played well against Houston, but not as well against Rutgers. I don't think Nyarsuk is somebody we can or want to rely on giving us 10-15 minutes a game if not more. Good news, I think Shaq and Sanders can play together some against smaller teams and make do for some minutes. I hope Koch is reading too much into things though. We need Lawrence.

Keep in mind the real quote is "If and when Lawrence comes back this season, it's a bonus." I feel like Koch took the "and when" part out to make it sound like an even bigger deal. Nobody actually knows, but I'd guess he's back at some point. I don't think much has changed. As Cronin also stated, they're simply preparing as if he won't be back, not that he actually won't be back.

I am ok with Mick taking his time and being sure he is 100% before hitting the floor. Foot injuries and problems have ended a lot of big men's careers

I agree with this. This is probably not season ending UNLESS he come's back to soon...then it could be. You see NFL'ers having issues with this type of injury all season if they don't let it heal first. I feel sorry for JL but I would feel even more sorry for him if we jumped the gun.
