Ironically, that average Houston team crushed Temple and scored at will in the same gym that UC turned into a glorified parking lot today.
UC's offense is like watching the Princeton offense, minus the passing and cutting.
My big fear with Cronin ball is this: if you're a top end recruit, what about the basketball we're watching would make you say "Damn, I really want to be a Bearcat". Our previous coach had some ugly offensive teams but they had style and an attitude that was rarely boring. This team has all the personality of a wet mop. In an effort to change the reputation of our program, Mick has turned our guys into mindless zombies. There's no joy, there's no passion, there's nothing remotely exciting or interesting about watching this team play basketball. But hey, we have a bunch of nice guys that go to class, so Xavier fans can't call us thugs anymore. They just kick the living sh!t out of us and move on.
What I wouldn't give to have a couple guys with some attitude. Ellis could be that guy but everytime he rolls his eyes someone is calling him a hothead. He could be the epitomy of Bearcat swagger but he's been George Orwelled into dullness by a Coach more interested in perceptions than winning. Or so it would seem.
