Wow that was the worst close range shooting performance I have ever seen. Not sure where we go from here.

Why is Ado even in the game on the last possession? We were struggling to shoot, but some of the decisions that the coach can control were awful.

I’m really disappointed in Miller.
I know it had to be tough assembling a team
under the conditions he had but ….

We're a NIT team at best with a roster full of very flawed players.

We're at least 2-3 years away from putting out a line-up with guys like Jarron, Evans, Clark, and Washington all on the floor together.

We have to continue to take our lumps with the group and just hope we see some collective progress over the last 10-12 games.

I think the keys to the game will be rebounding, ball movement, and defending Dunn without fouling.
Keys to the game grades:

Rebounding: D
Temple outrebounded us by 8. They give up an OReb rate of 31 on average, Ours was only 26 tonight.

Ball movement: F
We scored 0.79 points per possession and had an effective field goal percentage under 35. By far our worst offensive performance of the year, and the second half was especially awful. Specifically looking at assist rate, Temple gives up an average of 57%, tonight we were 45%.

Defend Dunn without fouling: C+
Dunn only had 11 pts from the field on 15 shots and 4 turnovers. But we sent him to the line 9 times which he turned into 7 points. And he used his size to score on DDJ at will down the stretch.

Temple was down 4 with 2 minutes left and I was starting to get the feeling that we would hold on to win.

Damian Dunn scored 5 of Temple's final 7 points and we all know how the game ended.

Point being, having an alpha on the wing like Dunn, who (despite having a poor game up to that point) could make big shots in the clutch to lead his team to victory was the deciding factor.

This team is desperately missing that type of player and Wes needs to hit the transfer portal hard to bring in that type of player - especially if DDJ isn't returning as originally indicated.

When you take nothing but difficult shots, you're gonna blow some games.

We also seem to have a tendency to make shots much harder than they need to be, we are always fading away, or falling to the side.

It's probably fun to play in this offense, but we need a bit of discipline.

Yah....that was the message game that we are not a tourney team. I was already fairly sure of that. Poor shooting can be overcome but poor decisions on top of that is something you can't have.

Out of the bigs right now Koval is the only one that has not been a dissapointment lately. Vik had 3 TO's in 8 mintues. Ody plays way too fast. Ado can't keep his hands on rebounds and has no offensive abillty.

Hard for a coach to make adjustments when there are no timeouts. The refs were horrible but they didn't make us play awful

I've said before I won't miss DDJ and I stick to that. He may be our best player, but he really causes the offense to stagnate. He needs the ball in his hands for at least 5 seconds to get off his shot, which really impedes ball movement.

The other player who really causes our offense problems is Newman. It's hard to have a SF who can't shoot. There were multiple times when we did execute tonight and the ball eventually got kicked out to an open Newman. Which is a win for the defense, because either he takes a low percentage three or our offense has to reset. Like DDJ his main offensive game is low percentage jumpers off the dribble, unlike DDJ he doesn't make them at a higher than expected percentage.

Temple played to not let DDJ or Davenport beat them. MAW/Newman and whichever big was in and unable to finish around the rim were unable to compensate. MAW needs more shooters around him to be effective. Newman and our bigs are offensive black holes.

I'd like to see more of Mason, he moves the ball well on offense and can hit threes. We did well with him in during the first half, but he didn't get much time in the second. If the offense isn't running well, Mason is the most likely guy off the bench to fix it (especially if you put him in for Newman). Yes, Newman does a lot of little things and plays great defense, but at some point putting the ball in the basket becomes more valuable.

Aside from Madsen, everyone on the bench has either regressed (Saunders, Ody, Lakhin) or stagnated with low production (Koval, Hensley, McGinnis) since we've started conference play.

Koval has been the big that most consistently plays the best within his abilities but even he was underwhelming last night.

When DDJ and Davenport are taken out of the game, we're really in a dire situation if we need scoring during a tight affair.

The crazy thing about Newman is he is tops of the starters in plus minus on the year and also in this last game. And he's pretty far ahead of MAW. Koval is best of the non starters. I would call him (newman) limited on offense but not a black hole. I mean he has a similar 3% to others and he occasionally gets in the lane. You want a little more out of the 3 I get that.

Finding a 3 with length who can handle the rock, shoot, rebound as well as defend is easier said than done. I do like who we have coming in but they don't grow on trees and they don't come around here often. Evans is who we are looking for basically.
