Stumbled upon this ticket promotion in the headlines forum:

http://cincinnati.com/blogs/uc/2014/01/13/uc-keeps-up-defensive-streak-fans-save/

Basically you buy bleacher seats for every remaining home game for $70 and every home game that our streak of holding teams under 70 points continues you receive a $10 credit for tickets next year. Essentially if you buy tickets before tonights game and the streak holds all year you get all your money back towards tickets for next year. Kind of an interesting marketing strategy. Wonder how many bites they'll get off it. I like that their promoting the fact they have the longest streak in the nation of holding teams under 70.

Wow thats a pretty unbelievable deal. I don't really see the streak ending anytime soon.

Anyone else a season ticket holder? Curious your thoughts on all of these promotions that continue to offer other fans bleacher seats for less than the per ticket price of season tickets? Probably doesn't bother guys with lower level seats since the prices don't really compare, but if I could have bought the whole season around Xmas for less than half of what I paid for my season ticket package when they offered $5 games. Now you can get up to a $70 credit. What credit do I get next year as a loyal season ticket holder?

Don't get me wrong, they need to get more people to the game (sad that these promotions are even necessary), but there needs to be some consideration to people that have already pre-paid for season tickets (this year and many in the past). Do I buy season tickets next year? Or just wait until they start running these promotions and save myself some money?

Haha I was just thinking this. I love the promotion and think its really cool. But they probably just jinxed us bad.

I know this is mostly (if not totally) tounge and cheek but now we are down to calling jinxes from ticket promos? It's enough we have to hear it at the FT line every other game from announcers but ticket promos is taking the mythical jinx to the next level:) Just kidding around...unless your serious...LOL.

I was def. joking around...unless Temple gets 71 tonight lol ;) It is a cool promo. I've never heard of one like it before.

If I were living in Cincy I would grab that up for sure. I wonder if this is a reaction to the recent Cronin comments about support from the university.

I get what you're saying and I agree to an extent, but honestly the bleacher seats are not where I'm wanting to sit. I think at the beginning of the year you could get bleacher seats for $10 a game anyway with no donation. The only thing that bothers me is when they all move down and sit in the seats just as good as yours. And even that doesn't bother me unless they personally either block my view or annoy or distract me. There is a legitimate concern about buying season tickets and then being able to get cheaper seats later. You won't get as good of seats but if you're budget conscious, which 90-95% of us are, you do what you have to do. The thing I keep telling myself is you're doing your part to help the team. It is sad that we have to run these promotions to sell tickets, but it is not uncommon. I heard SMU is running a promo where if you buy seats to a game and they win you get in the next game free and if they win that you get in the next one free and so on and so on. The Reds do it all the time to sell seats. I'd be more concerned if we weren't running these promos with our low attendance.

I think the coolest thing about it is it promotes your defense and gets fans wishing for stops and turnovers and maybe sidetracking them from complaining about us not scoring so many points. It definitely is a unique promotion. It's like the 10 strikeout/free pizza deal. You get fans rooting for something other than the obvious wanting to win and cleverly showcases what you pride yourself on.

As far as the jinx is concerned, I wasn't really serious but I wasn't joking. It's like guaranteeing a win, that never goes well. Luckily they didn't jinx us. When it was 11-10 about 8 minutes in I figured we were safe.

Does this promotion count for only home games or is it all UC games??

I read up on the finer points in the article I attached and I'm just assuming if the streak ends on the road that it ends the streak. Every home game extends the rebate by $10, not road games, but I would guess the streak has to stay alive on the road as well.
