Lookin at other potential teams that are on the bubble that play tonight... from the major conferences.

Illinois [17-10 (7-7), RPI: 40, SOS: 21] vs. Ohio St. -- Ohio State wins, enough said, weakening Illinois chance to be an at large bid.

Virginia Tech [17-8 (7-5), RPI: 65, SOS: 121] vs. Wake Forest. Wake Forest (1-11 in the ACC) is terrible and this would really be a devastating loss for Virginia Tech and really hurt their chances.

Tennessee [16-11 (6-6), RPI: 32, SOS: 2] vs. Vandy. Should be a win for Vandy but TENN will put up a strong fight and more than likely play well. Tennessee has a strong SOS and RPI but the losses are starting to pile up and they still have to play Kentucky again.

Minnesota [17-9 (6-8), RPI: 39, SOS: 31] vs. Michigan State [15-11 (7-7), RPI: 41, SOS: 6] A toss up game but this would be a tough loss for Michigan State, putting them with 12 losses and being under .500 in Big Ten

I'm guessing Illinois doesn't need this one, but a win here obviously locks it up for them. I doubt they get it also.

VTech is going to win by 100, but ya, they're toast if they lose.

Tennessee is probably in the same boat as Illinois except they don't have quite the free wins left on their schedule so they still have some work to do. I doubt they get this one.

Minny and MSU is where its at tonight. Winner is pretty comfortable for the moment. Loser is running out of chances big time.

Last I heard, X was hammering Fordham. It's that tough A10 schedule they have.

every team that i wanted to win ended up losing such as minnesota, vandy, houston, wake forest.
tenneessee made a good statement and i think they will makke it in

I'm not so sure with their performance last night Minnesota isn't playing their way out of the tournament.

I'm not sure Minnesota should be in it. They are benefiting greatly from a pre-season ranking and a couple good early wins. Other than that they haven't done much at all.

ahhhh I see what you did. Big East 7th place team is a measuring stick to most programs tho

Interesting. St. Johns has Depaul tonight- if they win they will be 10-5 and tied for 3rd? and if ND gets beat @ Providence (I don't see that happening at all) they will be tied for Second. Not sure where you got the 7th place from- even as the standings look today:

Pittsburgh 12-2 24-3
Notre Dame 10-4 21-5
Georgetown 10-5 21-6
Louisville 10-5 21-7
St. John's 9-5 17-9
Syracuse 10-6 23-6
Villanova 9-6 21-7
West Virginia 8-6 17-9
Cincinnati 8-6 21-6

By all means I don't really care- just would like the real facts brought to the table. As a MOD I think you should try to as well.

Really doubt Minnesota will get in. They are without two major contributers (Joesph and Nolen), with whom they won all their big games. Without those two they have a dreadful record and will get left out barring a big run in the conference tournament...ala UC without Kirkland.

I think Tennessee is basically in now, they have a game remaining at home versus Kentucky that would make them a lock, imo. Too hard to ignore the huge non conference wins over Pitt and Nova and an in conference sweep of Vandy. However those terrible losses will probably cap them at a 6 seed, although I expect a 7-9.

At this point, I really don't think the other bubble teams are of consequence. It really is up to us. While I think we're on the bubble, I don't think we're on the edge of the bubble - we've got cushion. 1-3 puts us on the edge of the bubble and very uncomfortable unless that 1 win is AT G-town. 2-2 or better and we're looking at how good a seed or where opening weekend will be...

With Marquette's win @ UCONN there is a legit chance they get to 11 wins, and if UC wins on sunday UCONN could very well finish in 11th place. Man, this league is crazy.

QUESTION: Does Marquette beating UConn effect UC getting into the tourney at all? Besides the obvious answering to us just needing to win...what if we lose a game or two? I know Lunardi says we can get 11 teams in but I just find it hard to believe the committee will actually do it.

I think Marquette is still a top-25 win (or two) behind UC in terms of the pecking order. I'm not concerned. And frankly, with the way this team is playing I'm not worried about it even if Marquette were to pick up another big win or two (as long as it isn't against us).

Yeah very true. I guess I was thinking if/when we beat UConn they will be down there in the ranks. They still have to play WVU which needs to win that game so if WVU wins that game....that would just be crazy ha. I guess we just have to keep winning but man this league is crazy.
