Ok, I will ask just one more time and I am being completely honest here. I know Mick has never gone to the sweet 16, I know he has only gotten his team to one NCAA tournament. I just want to know- how many years has he been a Head Coach? I don't even know how long he has been at UC? 5 years? Did he have a head coaching job before UC or was he promoted from film guy to head coach?
"Video coordinator" or whatever the title is called, is usually used as a blanket term.
Douche bag AAU scum turned assistants, are often called "film guys" and Mick was once quoted as saying he was the film guy, and couldn't even operate a VCR.
He was head coach of Murray State and took them to the first of several tourny runs, then went to Rick Pitino as an assistant for a year, to prepare for the head coaching job; during which time Andy Kennedy was here.
He's experienced, he knows how to win.
He likes ugly basketball and that doesn't appeal to some folks. He doesn't really have a rhythm to his offense, but if the guys calm down and actually make their shots, consistently, because of his defense, more often than not they'll win.
That's what people are going to have to accept about Mick's teams.
As for the years he's been here, hard to recruit when your first year you only win 11 games, hard to win more than 11 games, when you have only one returning scholarship athlete and some walk ons, jucos and football players.
I get that people are upset, but until the season is over, they should do themselves a favor and STFU. What if the team lost the shootout, and won every remaining game? I bet they'd be happy until the start of next season.
The only thing more painful than the manic ups and downs of the season, are the manic ups and downs of the fan base.
