Tulane Part II

Great cut to the middle by Madsen. That's what the opposite guy should do if the point defender is pressing high instead of waiting for a skip pass.

It’s about time Fifth third is making some noise. Even at 10% it’s not bad at all and it’s what these freshmen haven’t gotten to experience yet

Madsen has good off ball movement . He takes advantage of when defenses aren’t paying attention.

At some point He will appear on the scouting report as a shooter and will need to make adjustments.

Also is Mikey the only guy willing to take a charge on the team?

I know it’s Tulane but this is the best basketball we’ve played all year. And also the loosest we’ve played.

Just flowing and having fun.

All the young guys were great.

Mikey looks like he might be good one day. 1 man press break.

Mason is good. Probably won’t ever be great but no reason he can’t be a good college player.

Tari is really good.

Davenport is going to be really good. Already kinda is.

Maw is solid. Really good defensively

The announcers made a point about how the score changed when Keith and Vogt came out with 4 fouls.

I certainly want Keith out there but the elephant in the room is what the offense looks like without a super high usage player who’s not that efficient.

Love Keith but also starting to see the vision

Keith has been passing better and trying to get guys involved. Was also cool to see Keith and Vogt cheer for the young guys from the bench. That’s leadership.

Keith was a disasterrr today and defensively in have zero clue why he isn't great

I like Keith with a 23 usage rate, 25 assist rate, and zero midrange shots. Our offense was just as good when he was in even though we didn't build a lead. We scored 44 points in the first half. The offense was fluid all game, despite some bad turnovers.

Tari had no bad fouls today. He only picked up two in 28 minutes (all at the 5), both on block attempts. That's what he needs to stay on the court.

It was the best game of the season for Tari, Davenport, Saunders, and MAW (and Cook :D). It was good to see MAW and Saunders attack the basket a few times. For a truly fluid offense, everyone needs to take advantage of gaps that present themselves, and everyone needs to take advantage of open catch-and-shoot situations. MAW and Saunders have been hesitant to do those things, but not today.

Forbes' three point barrage was crazy to watch, and just as crazy looking at the play-by-play. He made a three on five consecutive possessions, 15 points in 2:30.

That final quarter was our finest 10 minutes of the season.

Squeaking out gut wrenching wins is nice, but I'd much prefer to blow teams out by 20.

For the first time this season I really started to get excited about our future with our current core of young guys.

If you remove the 15 point explosion by Forbes, we had a similar run in the first half (would have been 24-4 in 11 minutes). And I think that explosion had more to do with Forbes' luck and Brannen's decision to stick with the 1-3-1 than any fault of our players. I think we played very well most of the game.

Hopefully, the Tari and Brannen chest bump after he made his three is a sign that he sticks around.

Didn’t want it happen this way as I hope all is well with Ddj, but we needed give keys to Saunders. His speed opens court up for others

Been busy, still haven't watched the first 10 minutes of the game, but saw the rest.

It's nice to finally get a blowout win and see it done by the young guys. But, as usual I am cautious to overreact to it. Tulane is a bad team and fell apart when the going got difficult - got "boat raced" as Brannen calls it. Tulane played barely any defense all game (seemed like we got a good shot unless we turned it over). They also were the perfect matchup for Tari to play the 5, as the have no size and are bad at rebounding. Tari fouls a lot because he gets pushed around by bigger guys and is undersized at the 5.

I don't think Keith getting 4 fouls had much of anything to do with our run, but I think Vogt getting 4 fouls did. We can play a faster paced free flowing game with Vogt out. Plus Eason (and Diarra) are better rebounders than Vogt.

Speaking of Diarra, I'm thinking Brannen not playing him in the 2nd half must be a Brannen dog house situation. Diarra had 4 rebounds in 4 minutes and played well in the first half (minus the 1-3-1 zone being terrible, but that's on Brannen), than was the only scholarship player available on the bench for the final 15 minutes and still didn't get in the game.

While the win is nice, I'm waiting to see what happens against Memphis before I throw any parties. I'm expecting a blowout loss. If we manage to win (or even be close), it will be a good sign that we are really turning things around.

It’s still fun to win. Don’t have to throw a party, just enjoy it. To me the win proved the young guys can play.it’s Tulane, I get it, but these guys are also get better.

I don’t know if we can beat Memphis. I don’t know if we have the depth at this point. If the young guys look good again,it’s a great sign. I’m not even worried about a win or loss at this point. Just play well. It’s a good test. They are good, not great. But it’s at home with some fans.
