I remember a lot of people (me included) were kind of puzzled by the Cobb signing last May. He has been the key contributor in probably our 4 best wins of the season (San Diego State, SMU, @SMU and Tulsa).

Said day one he would have major impact and START

I too have been tough on LD at times. While saying I appreciate the job he's done, I also questioned him at times. The fact is when things looked darkest after back to back home losses he has pulled the team together and they are playing their best ball. I agree he should be coach of the year in the AAC. And to his credit, Mick Cronin said his goal was to help make LD just that when he left the sidelines.

Very impressed with LD's humbleness, loyalty and desire to support the program and his friend in very trying and difficult circumstances. Hope it leads to good things for him.

Don't forget that Larry is the guy generally credited with unearthing Tim Duncan from the Virgin Islands.

3s? Gary Clark? There is 0% chance he extends his range to the corner 3 by next year. He needs to work on extending his range to 8 ft and to the FT line.

I agree. It's nice to have a big that has a jump shot but I don't want my bigs out there anyway. You can't post up and be floating around outside too. Can't have an inside out game and run an effective offense if your bigs think they are three point threats.

I would never put a limit on what Gary Clark might be able to do next year . I think what we saw so far is just scratching the surface of what he will be. He is already one of the best passers on the team ,one of best rebounders, fg %. , defense ,steals and everything else like humbleness/teamplay/leadership so would it surprise me if he extends his range quite a bit. The answer would be no.

One thing is for sure is he needs to work on his FT's . He will be on the floor in close games and he needs to be able to knock em down. He has missed some big ones which IMO comes down to his nerves.

Clark makes his money at next level at the 3. Start developing guys for the next level early on parts of game they need to succeed. I'll rather Clark work on corner 3 than trying add 25 pounds.

that we come with maturity. He's not afraid of big moment though

Clark will not make his money guarding the LeBron James' of the NBA. He will make his money at the 4. He needs to continue to improve his rebounding and his range on his jumper. By the time he leaves UC he needs to consistently be able to hit the 15-17 foot jumper. This kid is special and his work ethic and willingness to be coached will be the reason he is drafted.

No way. Clark is only 6'7". If he can't play the tweener 3 then he wont sniff the NBA. Guys like LeBron are exactly who he'd have to guard. Even 6'10" 4s like Markieff Morris shoot 3s and get out to the perimeter on defense. He needs to have better than 17' range and needs to be a passable wing defender to have any shot at the NBA imo.

He better start getting coached over summer on perimeter game also. He can dominate post play right now in college with lil better fundamentals. Clark extend his range to perimeter without taking away his post play he would be best bearcat of most of our generations.

Don't see him as a three at the next level. See more like a J Max undersized 4 with a better perimeter game. I understand what you guys are saying though. I think he can extend his range and also believe he can add weight and strength and I don't discount that he can still add an inch or two in height. His ball handling has a looonnnng way to go to be an NBA three.

I mean for a guy like DeMarre Carroll to make it, he had to develop a perimeter game and be a true wing defender. I don't see Clark as a whole lot different than that if he stays around 235. His post up game is better than a guy like Carroll, but the way the NBA is going, you gotta be able to shoot too. And even a guy like Maxiell had to guard wings at times. He exclusively guarded LeBron back in the 2007(?) playoffs. Clark has to have more variety than Maxiell imo, and he has the skills for it. Plus, Maxiell could make it as a 4 bc he was a 260 lb explosive jumper with a 7'1" wingspan. I just don't think Clark could make it as a banger like that. He's gotta be a 3/4 tweener at worst imo.

Clark looked really explosive in high school, in college he hasn't shown any explosion offensively. He is going to be a really, really good 4 year college player and make his money overseas....and that is perfectly fine.
