UC Hands Down Punishments

BearcatTalk

Help Support BearcatTalk:

I get it, so no trash talking because it's a rivalry. Seriously, 3 games for TU is ridiculous.

I don't have an issue with a little trash talk during a game, but I think constantly cursing at the opposing staff is way over the line. I never liked it when Lance was talking to the other bench.

I didn't expect X to do anything with Tu anyway, because they never have. Just keep letting him being the punk that he's always been. I just hope his mouth costs X a big game down the line. Then he'll probably go after the officials and rip another water fountain off the wall.

I would say blindsiding someone who wasn't looking at you is far worse than people going at each other like real men.
Real men can defend lay ups without hacking someone to death and screaming in their faces about it, real men don't headbutt like pussies during a game, or threaten middle aged women and their daughters, after getting dropped for lunging at someone's team.
Real men also don't do what Tu did and tell Xavier fans, who have real degrees and actually had to go to class "Shut up bitch!" when they tell them to "show some class". Real men, don't throw sissy falcoln punches in mid air at Ibrihima Thomas, or jaw at someone taking freethrows and real men certainly don't crowd on Ellis and get chased off when it becomes a 2 on 2 fight.

Spare me the "real men" BS. Wells wasn't a man when he shoved someone to the floor who was arguing with someone else.
Tu wasn't a man when he was tweeting how bad ass he was.
Lyons wasn't a real man when he turned tail and ran from Kelvin Gaines.
Frease wasn't a real man when he started verbally threatening little girls.
Mack wasn't a real man at any point in his time at Xavier and his continued success, is largely due to Sean Miller's kids.
Maybe if Xavier didn't employ someone like Chris Mack as their head coach, they'd know what real men look like.

What I saw was nothing but a bunch of punk ass little kids, who live in an alternate reality from everyone else.
Gangsta! Seriously? ... It's a basketball game on ESPN... Nice to know we have future Michael Vicks and OJ Simpsons running around.
Oh wait, both of those guys are more talented than either of you. Hmmm...

Smh.. Yeah your Jesuit school, and your Zima drinking, honda civic driving, uncultured, yuppie ass alumni are hardcore.
Why don't you step off campus? See what Norwood is really like.
Would do you a world of good. Someone ask those kids if they can even tell me who Fransisco de Jesso Azpilicueta is. Make sure they don't have a mobile device on them when you do. Ask them who he was, when he was born, and who's court his father served in.
I'd love to hear their answers...

Butterfly, Just so you know, I don't think any of them were "real men." I was simply mocking bearcat alum who said Gates shouldn't get more of a suspension then Xavier players, just because they fight like girls, and Gates doesn't. I don't think blindsiding someone who wasn't looking isn't real manly, like bcalum does.

I will argue what Lyons/wells and most UC players did was different than what Gates did, simply because they were face to face with the player they were trying to hit.

Meh, I view it as retribution for the block/hack and scream Frease did.
Ugly all around I suppose. A punch is a punch though, hit someone from the side isn't really fair. Then again, there really is no such thing as a fair brawl.
Lyons threw multiple punches, I don't see why he shouldn't get a six game suspension if Ellis is. Especially since he instigated that fight, Ellis wasn't involved before that.
I stated my view on the rest though.

The argument can certainly be made that this brawl never happens if Wells doesn't do what he does. He is the most overlooked piece of this puzzle. His actions opened the floodgate and to me what he got was a smack on the wrist. Lyons got off light as well in light of his actions toward players and the UC coaching staff. Why X continues to allow Tu to act the way he does is beyond me.

It is encouraged by Chris Mack.

Chris Mack is a complete joke. I said it when he was hired. I said it over the years. I said it before the game. I stand firm in that assertion now.

Why would Chris Mack's players (and specifically the smurfs) act any different than their classless coach?

Not at all what happened. In a brawl numerous people threw punch before Yancy did. Kenny was in there and was punched.

I saw a lot of UC players put there hands up, even the ones not punching because in a brawl you never know.

I relate Kenny Frease headbutt to Gates punch. Neither were ready and it wasnt right but you need to be prepared.

This wasnt a sucker punch where gates came out of no where. It was a brawl and Gates connected.

I am not going to get into it but of all the X players over the years I do not feel bad for Frease. He has this coming for awhile. Sometimes guys need to get knocked in the nose. Yancy included...

Watching more video, Frease seems to be going after and shoving Gelawn Guyn when Yancy steps in and clocks him. Once a brawl starts nothing is a cheap shot. Frease willingly came into the middle of UC players and put his hands on a guy half his size and Gates protected his teammate. I'm not suggesting we raise a statue in his honor but in my opinion what Gates did was no worse than anybody who were throwing punches. The only cheap shot was Mbodj kicking a guy that was down. Even Wells shoving Guyn was done after Holloway and Guyn got into it. He was just defending his teammate as well. People act like this was two gangs going after each other in a premeditated fashion. This incident started because Tu Holloway is a complete ass and went too far and then put his hands on an opposing player. Then hell broke loose. People who threw punches, landed or unlanded deserve the same punishment, plain and simple. The guy who instigated the melee deserves alot more punishment than he got.

I agree 100% Haven't seen many people saying Frease deserved it but he did. He charged into the middle of the brawl like someone who has never been jacked in the face before and he paid the price. Anyone who threw a punch is an idiot but so is anyone making any aggressive movements in the middle of a brawl.

What I cannot understand is how so many people can overlook the fact that punches that miss and punches that connect have the same intentions.

Gates got shat on because he landed all his punches. Is that his fault that he learned proper boxing technique growing up? That everyone else was swinging wildly and he landed four short straight rights?

If he missed all of his punches and Mark Lyons had landed a punch on an assistant coach how would this whole thing have been perceived?

Please Kingsly or Dontmisshim. Explain why someone with better boxing technique should be penalized more when the intention is the same.

Why not, we could have a display of Frease going down after the blow, with Yancy looking down at him... It'd make for recruiting material... Just be sure not to have the third guy, coming in for the head kick.

There wasn't a head kick.

Frease got kicked in the back as he was crawling away. Yes, crawling away.

At least UC fans can be glad they "won" the fight, because their team got their asses handed to them. 23 point loss on the court. These two teams are so far apart in terms of basketball talent, it's not even close.

So, after being ranked to start the season, would UC fans now consider an NIT appearance an acceptable goal?

A player tried to stomp on Kenny when he was down. I know a lot of people are calling Gates a coward- but the dude who tried to stomp on Kenny is the biggest coward of them all, IMO.

Someone ban this fool. He says nothing intelligent and brings the quality of discussionto a new low on this site.

Please, fill me in on what was wrong about what I said.

Look at your posts. You're an instigator who makes irrational comments just to get reactions. None of your post bring any insight or valid points that could be discussed. Its not what this blog is about. We shouldn't have to ignore you and let you waste everyone's time. We should just ban you until you want to contribute in an intellectual positive way.

Of course you guys don't think it was a cheap shot, unfortunately everyone else does.

Sounds a lot like X fans making excuses for the biggest piece of garbage to play college basketball the last few years... the gangsta Tu "zip em up and rip off the water fountain" Holloway.

Even the Vandy fans said they were not surprised by this after the trash they saw displayed there a few weeks ago.
