UC makes CBSSPORTSLINE top 25 and 1

The next time the Big East renegotiates their deal it will be significantly lower due to the exposure.

I agree. Those teams might also start to see a dip in recruiting as well. It's not ideal that the Cats play games CBS Sports but Mick being able to tell a recruit he's going to be on ESPN for a lot of games too probably can't hurt.

Recruiting could take a hit, but right now the big east has 5 top 25 recruiting classes (Xavier leading the way at 6 in the nation. What!?)

Give it time. I know I'm a broken record on this but there are Big East programs like Seton Hall, Providence, and St. Johns where good recruits go to never be heard from again. Seton Hall and Providence are in that top 25. With x, they haven't been known for recruiting class stability in recent years.

Xavier has a really good class, but the ESPN ranking is a complete joke! They have their class ranked ahead of Kansas (2 of the top 10 players!) and Arizona (top 10 player and another top 30 player). Xavier's class belongs in the top 20, but definitely not in the top 10.

its only up there because it consist of 5 commitments, the stars add up and thats why they are so high, they do not have a player in the top 40. The big east is no longer good. on another recruiting note i hope to see gary clark be high up in the new rankings

I hate being the rational voice on here but the reality is as much as I hate to admit it X is playing very well and they have a nice class coming in next year. We will need to be on top of our game to beat them as they were against us this year. I had a little vomit in my mouth when I wrote that

Agreed. I hate them with a passion but illogical bashing is stupid and generally inaccurate. They have done very well for themselves as a program in recruiting, conference etc. I just hope it doesn't continue.

I agree it just comes off as sour grapes most of the time. It's actually pathetic IMO. Eggs fans probably love reading about how irrational some UC fans become when talking about their record, success, or recruiting. Nothing would piss them off more than for UC fans to just stop discussing them as if we didn't give two shits. One week a year they are fair game...outside of that they are in a different conference.

When they keep coming up OVER and OVER and OVER long after we played them? That is just an infatuation level that I can't come to grips with.

It's a rivalry and people should have fun with it. You don't have take a business like approach to it. As far as what's been said. The big east is weaker, they have had trouble with recruiting classes staying together or panning out, and who cares if x fans read this and what they think. Clearly we disagree, but reasonable minds can differ...or irrational ones.

competition is good motivation.

OK I agree to disagree on the rivalry issue. No harm no foul. For me it's a rivalry for a week and for some it's never ending (even 7 games after we played). A difference of outlook on that issue is understandable...I can deal with that.

I am not sure what you are talking about with the Big East recruits panning out. The old BE or the new BE...but the new BE hasn't been around long enough to comment on and the Old BE has a pretty good track record.

For the recruits, I was referring specifically to old/current members St. Johns, Seton Hall, and Providence. For x, they have had a recent history of recruiting classes not staying together over their time at x. Some of their best players have been transfers - outside of semaj.

Anyway, it's fun to debate this stuff and I appreciate the back and forth.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you live in Florida. You don't have to face XU fans every day or see X gear when out and about. Just the sight of it makes me cringe. That is why to me the rivalry is an everyday thing, not just game week. The fact that we lost to them this year just sickens me everytime I face an X fan because I know they got bragging rights and they can say they're the better team and there's nothing I can do to argue it.

I've said it in the past and I'll say it today, if our players can't get motivated to play X and give them a fight then we need to stop playing them. I hate having to go a whole year after we lose to them. They have a good program and if they beat us here and there in a good game where both teams put it all out on the line then I can live with it better. This year's loss reminded me of all the Huggins years losses when we didn't respect the rivalry and got embarrassed.

No offense taken but I did go to UC for 4 years and lived there for maybe 8 or so total. I was there...I know what it's like...I went to the games. I do not have X fans to deal with day to day but I have attended a few X vs UC alumni parties in Atlanta and Orlando since moving away. Besides that I have followed the program for over 20 years now. I have a decent handle on the rivalry.

I am always much more worried about the next game, our ranking, rpi, NCAA seeding etc. Other than seeing it on this site I haven't thought about X since the game. For some people it means more....I guess I can understand why...it just doesn't consume me as much. I never look how they are doing or their scores. If they are doing well they will show up in the top 25 and I will see their name...if they aren't I won't have any idea what their record is.

The game bothers me for about a week if we lose. In the end all I care about is March. But I hate X just in case I haven't said that.

I basically hate X. Props to them for their success, but frankly I wish them and all of the scumbags remaining in the Big East nothing but the worst. As far as I'm concerned, I don't even care to dignify their school by referring to it as a "rivalry" and I am indifferent as to playing them every year. IMO, if not for X, the 'Cats would have a huge fan base. I believe that when Huggins was fired, a lot of sellout UC fans jumped on the Musketeers bandwagon. I want to turn the tables on them.

By Monday the AAC should have 3 top 25 teams with the Cats, Memphis, and L'ville. In my Larry David from Curb Your Enthusiasm voice "Pretty Pretty Good"

I hope we still play the same way even with a number by our name. If anything we will have to play harder. Its something we have never done well in the last 3 seasons.
