This is what I wanted to see from the beginning.

Thanks Mick for reading my posts. :D

Keep the pressure on

Davis has played well, but left two on thie line that would have pushed lead by to 14.

That is a concentration thing. Unfortunately, some of these guys don't get to the line enough to really have a routine going. You can practice all you want, and it helps, but there is no substitute for game action. These guys need to bear down and concentrate at the line and their % will go up.

A game we should have won and did. Always a good thing.

Dion and SK shot poor from deep and yet it didnt matter.

Great atmosphere, 10,000 showed up. Mr Whit Babcock came up to the nose bleeds to visit with the fans, which I thought was a great move.

On to greater matters... for those worried about the safety of my car. Great news, I roped some CLOWN (bigbiscut34) into driving. I watched a stress free game knowing the prized camry was sitting safe at home.

I'm still in shock from the Justin Jackson freethrows. He got nothing but net.
Yancy in spite of the tick tack fouls was pretty good as well. Those 3 blocks were impressive and so was the fade away jumper.
He plays more like a big in this system than the old.
Also have to give credit to Dixon and Davis.

We look like a tourny caliber team.

There was a moment in last night's game that made me so happy. I believe it was Yancy's first or second bucket but it was something I haven't seen in 6 years. Yancy got the ball about 15 feet from the bucket and turned his back to the defender to back him down but realized there was nothing there. He kicked the ball back out to Dixon and then moved closer to the hoop and posted up. Dixon kicked it right back down to Gates who simply spun to the hoop and made an easy layup. It was a thing of beauty.

I think the questions of how we'll respond with Gates on the floor are answered. He's going to make us that much better. He loves the baseline jumpers and I expect him to see a lot of open baseline looks going forward. Either teams will have to move their bigs out to guard him on the deep baseline jumper or they're going to leave him open out there. If the D faces him up away from the hoop it opens up the paint for our guards to attack. If the D stays in the paint our guards can attack and dish out to Gates.

I love the way this team looks right now, this is what we all thought we were going to see at the start of the season. Cheer Cincy, go Cats.

I actually think the most impressive Gates play was the charge called on him in the second half. He fought for a rebound, took one dribble and looked like he was going to absolutely destroy the rim. Great defensive play to take the charge but I LOVE seeing that aggressiveness from Gates attacking the rim.

I loved that as well and to boot he used his left hand which I have never seen him do.

The one thing that still annoys me is that they seem to take offensive possessions off every once in a while and get stagnant, no movement, passing or anything and then just throw it up as the shot clock expires.

When they are moving without the ball, driving, passing in and out, that is when they get the easy dump off for a layup or a wide open look at a three, that is when they are at their best.

Things are looking up, let's just hope they stay that way.

That was a terrible call on the charge. Not only was he not set, but he began to jump before deciding to take the charge, so he was half jumping to block his shot and his left foot was up in the air when contact was made.

3. Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin made the smart move by not starting Yancy Gates when he returned from a six-game suspension. Cronin may not have done that if the Bearcats were struggling. But he had leverage to do what he pleased since the Bearcats had won six straight without Gates. The Cincinnati turnaround from the brawl may be one of the most significant in-season turnarounds for a potentially dysfunctional team (see: losing to Presbyterian) in recent memory. The Bearcats are going to be competing for a top-5 finish in the Big East for the next two months.
