UC v. UK

thats great that he wants that. We all do, but he and the fans have to realize we aren't at the level where they will come here. It's the same reason we don't do a home and home with Albany or someone like that. We have to start somewhere. If it's a neutral or road just take it

Right!

I agree on the neutral part. One because it will hopefully give us a chance to play good competition and secondly because all tournament games are on a neutral floor (unless we play UConn in Hartford again...SMH). It is good practice. We shouldn't be taking buy-road games with no neutral component or anything.

I hope Under Armor ups the ante on that event that had at MSG (sponsored by Fox Sports). This year the participants were Boston College, Auburn, Seton Hall and South Carolina. There are a lot of good UA schools like UCLA, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, etc.
I think if we can get an early buy-road game next year against duke, ucla, Kansas, etc..I say take it. Not saying it's possible but it Can do nothing but help and next year we will have a chance. Would prefer a neutral tho

Side note, off topic. Why don't we play Dayton anymore? Is it an Archie miller thing? Seems like a easy top 50-75 trip when we are struggling to get those games

Huh? I'm talking about next year when we are playing at NKU. Do you feel the need to disagree with every post I make? You realize, given I'm right 99.9999% of the time, that's a losing position to take?

Huh? Are only NKU fans attending these games next year? Prove that UC will not have a home court advantage next year....

This isn't PBS where that was true

UC better start trending upward or less fans will go next year

Huh? You think we will have the same home court advantage playing in an arena we've never played in before? Why would we waste marquee home games just to play them at NKU? We should be starting a few H&H series next year on the road. Also there should be at least 1 good neutral game or the OOC is a failure. The tournament in the Cayman Islands is a joke of a field.

I don't think it's about manning up. I think it's about standing his ground and hope it happens. We were close to getting Michigan, We have gotten Butler, ISU, New Mexico and SDSU in the past. I imagine we get something. He did also said he would agree to play MSU in Madison Square Garden. There's not one part of me that thinks Cronin is scared to play a team on a neutral site. Just believes we should be considered for top programs to play a home and home series.

I don't know what part of town you're from but people don't give in that easy on the westside. Period.

It wouldn't be the first time Mick's stubbornness has hurt this program, if that's the point you're trying to make. Hope is not a strategy.

I think the program is doing fine. Because of Mick or despite Mick - whichever you choose to believe.

Why would ESPN care about Cincinnati or force UK to play us? If that's the only way this is happening, I don't see it happening

My comment was not specifically aimed at UK but scheduling marquee games in general. If people don't think Mick is trying to get big games, I don't know what to tell you. College hoops has gone away from home and homes between marquee OOC teams to playing in event style neutral court games. Those are driven by TV and specifically ESPN.

Also, let's all be honest, if Mick decided to take a game on the road without a return from a team like UK or another big name program, he would get crushed by the very same people on this message board telling him to do it. They would be complaining about the lack of big games at home. It's a no win situation because none of the big teams want to play us home and home and very few want to play us in a neutral court game. A deep run this year could change that.

I didn't say it's not........

I wonder if Mick knows that he has a roster of full time bodyguards working to defend his honor on bearcattalk.com

I definetly think he is trying. Why not try but to think we are on the level of these other programs where they would be willing to come here, is kind of dumb. I'm saying you have to start somewhere.
