UConn (9-3, NET #70) open the new decade with their most promising squad in 4 years under 2nd year head coach Dan Hurley. They're led by a strong veteran core (Vital, Gilbert, Carlton and Polley) that is paired with some of the best young talent in the league (Akok Akok 3 blocks per game, James Bouknight 47% 3 FG).
Although they've played one of the league's softer OOC schedules, this UConn team seems to be particularly stronger on the defensive end holding opponents to only 62 ppg so far on 38.5% FGs and 29.1% 3 FGs.
Wednesday will mark UConn's first true road game of the season. Last year their only road win came @ECU and their only road wins of the 17-18 season came @ECU and @Tulane.
We currently hold a 7-game winning streak over the Huskies and a win on New Year's Day would certainly set the tone for what is hopefully a 4-0 start to AAC play.
