UConn Game Thread

I missed the first half. UConn's offense looks terrible. Out defense hasn't been bad, but it seems like they are hurting themselves more than we are hurting them.

Yeah and Vogt is only making baskets because when he catches the ball everyone just walks away and lets him shoot

We beat them like a drum. They did not have many open looks. I think it was a combination of us not being as bad as everyone thinks and them not being that good.

If we can win the next two, I think this team might start buying in and gaining confidence.

We did a pretty good job of staying in front of the guards tonight. Our 5s are pretty damn efficient in this system

Yeah, they play the pick and role pretty good. Of course they get blown by sometimes but if they were perfect, they wouldn't have been available in the summer.

that's what this team can look like with cumberland being back to cumberland. really encouraged with how we played tonight. the long rest did us well.

Vogt is leading uc fg% record as to date

Before this game I read voght was 2% better shooting percentage than uc record for career shooting percentage. I cannot find the source on line. But I will keep trying

I think his hands are not talked about either. He has got some great passes that threaded the needle and he can catch about every one of them

Yes they are both pretty good in PnR but they are also big targets and seem to get good position making entry passes a little easier. We lobbed over the defender a couple times which opens up the "and one" opportunity after a dunk.

MAW still looks good but I worry a little bit when the pressure gets turned up he gets a little flustered and his ball skills aren't top notch for a PG. He still needs to play but maybe we need to get the ball to Cumberland when pressure is turned up. I like Jarron at the 1 and 4.

I still don't think MAW is a natural PG, he has been good but SG is his more natural position. I expect Saunders to take over the role at some point and MAW to move to SG.

It seems like we were using Jarron at PG quite a bit last not and even a fair amount of the Cronin offense from last year (give Jarron the ball and get out of the way).

We really only used that the last 4 or so min to close out the game. Not really much at all besides that. I think when we're up that much with a few minutes left it's not a bad idea to put it in his hands.

We rose 8 spots in NET with last night's win from 89 to 81.

UConn dropped 16 spots from 63 to 79.

If you’re a skilled big coming out of high school, you have to see what this staff is doing with Chris Vogt and what they have turned him in to. I would think that would help recruiting.

Also diarra gave us solid energy again. He also did a couple weird things. But I don’t mind him in that role. Come in for 4 minutes, give us everything he has.

i like him playing the 4 a lot more than the 5. gives tre some rest. he's gotta learn to pass though, if it goes to him on offense the possession is ending with him shooting or turning it over.

I agree with him at the 4. He works well with jay.

i think as the rotation got worked out he kinda got left out.

I think Brannen has settled into a rotation. Sorolla has been getting 10-12 and Diara 6-8. Davenport 0 lately and Harvey has only been getting 3 or less for about the last 5 games. McNeal is looking like about a 15 minute guy.

Obviously fouls will adjust the minutes but I like the adjustments made after the Colgate game so far.
