Quad had some attitude issues last year that he has worked through, and those situations have not surfaced at all since the beginning of this season. He works hard every day in practice and has gone from mostly an outsider as a freshman to a guy that has a good relationship with his teammates as a sophomore. From the inside, I thought he was a problem last year, but that hasn't been the case in his 2nd season...

I've had my concerns about his attitude but not a lot this season. He just isn't in a position of influence anyway.

I look at the post game presser and see that Troy is so much more influential on team attitude. I know some people hate to hear it but in a non literal way...it's his team. It's just something you can tell on the floor not to mention how apparent it is in pressers. It's not a knock on anyone else...it just is what it is...and I like that he is that way. I wish we had one more player who shared that type of mentality. Gary would be perfect but I'm not sure it's his style.

I have no problem with Caupain being the floor general. I have no problem with him being a leader on the team if he has earned it with his teammates and coaches through hard work and experience. It is abundantly clear that he sees his teammates as his brothers and would run through a wall for any one of them. That's a very positive attribute. A guy like Evans will be more confident getting encouragement from a player, rather than ham the coach. That's just how it is with guys that age. That post game press conference yesterday was classic. Makes me see the competiveness in the locker room is stronger than it was early in the year.

He isn't quite there yet, but he isn't far away either.

Gary is literally the nicest kid I've ever met in 7 years heavily covering recruiting. Being a "killer" isn't his default setting, but he is starting to understand how good he can be...

It seems deberry and Cobb some stand up nice guys also

Sorry troy is a decent player and all but your not going far if any where at all with him leading you. Leaders for championship programs don't smile when they lose. Troy had that almost got it done smile at end of Tulsa game. ONLY time you see them huddle together on court is during jenifer BRIEF appearances

Excuse me but I have to do a reading comprehension check here. Are you implying that Jenifer is more of a leader then Troy?

Quadri's issues may be mental but attitude is not part of that equation. My layman's perspective is that he wants to do 15 different things every second he's on the floor instead of doing the one thing Coach has asked him to do. That's not a bad attitude, he's just excitable and anxious. If he ever calms down and lets the game come to him, he can be an effective part of the rotation.

As I sit here and play mental fantasy college basketball I wonder if there's any merit to putting Jenifer on the floor with Caupain instead of using JJ to spell Troy for minutes. There's obviously a method to what Mick is doing and I'm not basketball smart enough to question him, just curious if he's ever considered it. I'm talking about JJ at the 1 and Troy at the 2. And before I get the inevitable armchair analysis, yes it's understood that Troy isn't a true 2. But he can shoot well enough, plus he can drive and create. Might open the floor a bit and help JJ develop, put 2 playmakers on the floor at once (or 3 if you count Clark). Won't happen, but would be interesting to hear Mick's analysis of why that isn't a good idea.

Don't know where you get that from. Troy just isn't an leader. Its being forced on him by Mick. I don't think no player on our team is a bona fide leader. Mick wouldn't have to talk to our players on every offensive possession if he had leaders.

My untrained eye tells me JJ just hasn't been as effective either in practice or games to warrant that kind of PT in the eyes of the Coach. In all honesty I have my doubts Jenifer will ever be the lead PG on this team even after TC graduates. His shot will need to improve and his defense to play major minutes. Not saying it can't happen but that's how I see it now. As far as what to do now, his role is to spell TC. Having him play the 1 while TC is at the 2 does not accomplish that. With teams collapsing on our interior scorer Clark we need our wings to generate some offense with hitting a few jumpers. That is something JJ doesn't provide. Also at this stage of the year the rotation is set. All games are big and the feeling out phase is over. If JJ improves over the off season I'm sure he will hit the floor more next year.

To each his own Bulldog. Thanks for the clarification.

If Cobb isn't hitting shots or kj doesn't need to stop somebody from dropping 20, jenifer should play as much as them two. Can't put him in game with kj, da bear and moore and judge his performances. Passing and spacing on offense goes up another notch when JJ on floor.

all you have to do is watch some of the post game press conferences to know troy is the leader and his teammates feel the same way

The only thought is that Cobb has been fairly easy to guard. Lots of times when JJ is on the floor the zone is so tightly packed with nobody that can get their own shot that he doesn't have much of an option. Yes, working on his own shot would help alleviate some of that.

So far as years beyond Troy, I have no question that JJ will be a very good point guard. Not saying he's Devan Downey but who is? Kid has a lot of talent. PG at the college level is hard to negotiate as a freshman.

I dont understand cobb. He was lights out behind the arc and now he cant hit an open 3 to save his life. But when you are in a slump, the best way to get out is to drive and draw a foul to get to the line(which Idk how many hes attempted since someone on here mentioned he had 14 all year) or take a few elbow jump shots, layups...honestly anything to get your confidence back up. If he isnt shooting a 3, its a floater. He needs to expand his arsenal, which theres a few games left..so maybe. But man has he been on a downward swing the last month, maybe 2

Bulldog, if we weren't fighting to stay in NCAA tourney contention JJ would get more minutes. But that is the way it is. Troy is the leader of this team, sometimes reluctantly but the leader none the less. He seemed more comfortable as a freshman than he does today and I have no idea why. This team needs more physicality from Ellis in the post on Offense. He gets himself in foul trouble under the rim on defense, and I think that would be less of an issue if he was controlling the offensive post getting the other team into foul trouble. It is clear Gary is willing to carry this team on his back as far as he can take them but he needs help at the basket, Ellis is first on deck, but if he keeps being soft....give DeBerry more minutes.

All of our perimeter shooters have been inconsistent. Hate to think what our team percentage would be without Clarks numbers. If we can get Cobb and TC knocking down some shots we could be a tough out.

Hope your right about JJ. I'm pulling for him as well. All players benefit from having good players around them but no more then PG's though. Two things we need to be effective right now he is a bit weak on. Shot and defense.

Agree 100% we need him to find his stroke.
