Well it seems it has been a bad couple of days around Bearcat Nation. What happens when we don't land any of the players we expected/thought/wished we could have had? It seems things get more depressing by the day around here in terms of recruiting. I hate to say it and I think Mick is a good coach/recruiter, but where the hell do we go from here? What will it take to make a great 2011 class?

Frankly, this could well be in the football recruiting forum....

We let MC go to plan b, or is it c?

There is still a lot of time left to fill the 2011 class, but it does look like the highly rated guys that MicK was in on are committing elsewhere. The first thing I would hope for is that Chane Behanan would recommit to UC and then Jeramiah Davis would verbal sometime this spring or summer. If those two things happen then Mick would have the beginnings of a solid class. Right now I'm not optimistic about anything. One thing we can be certain off is that Mick and his staff will not be outworked trying to upgrade the talent in the program. Let's just hope that all the hard work will eventually pay off. We definitely need some good news.

Burton was a disappointment and it was close from the get go with him. My source from Reno even thought he was a UC lean till he got the info to night that he verballed to Nevada.

Steele was always a SEC lean. Most southern kids want to play in the SEC or ACC depending on what part they hail from. I have a brother who has coached high school and AAU ball in Alabama for nearly 20 years and he will tell you the same thing.

There are still some possibilities out there. Remember, technically the roster is full. Room will need to be made for an addition. It will be if the right player is found.

2011 has many possibilities. Everyone focuses on Teague, and rightfully so, but Mick is still in with many other good players if he goes the UK/UL route.

Agreed completely.

Not to be that anti Mick guy... But forget 11, UC has to make it through NEXT YEAR. If mick has another year like last UC fans may riot. All joking aside, next year needs to go better and I have no reason to believe why it will.

I understand why people feel that way LL. The loss of Vaughn and Lance and no stars coming in. I however feel differently. I think the team will be better overall. It won't rely on one player and will play together as a unit. Call it a hunch but one not solely based on conjecture.

Lets hope your right! Someone needs to step up offensively, we have a few guys that got the potential.

I agree with LL here. Next year is my biggest concerna and it should be Mick's. He may not be here in 2011 if we have another sub par year.

AS for 2011 we still have very good options.

Jeremiah Davis leading the show. I have always said I think Teague was the better player but Davis is likely a 3 year type of guy who is going to help the program. I think I would rather take guys from the 25-50 range of talent. One and dones are great but its hard to build anything with them.

Davis
Behanan
Amir Williams

Are the big three

Sampson and a few other would be very nice.

All great names and I'd say Davis and Behannan have the best chance of being Bearcats. Williams is really picking up major interest from top tier schools and Sampson is a definitive Xavier lean. Doesn't mean things can't where they are right now.

What was wrong with last year? 19 wins, beat Louisville in Big East Tourney, got to Maui championship game, got in NIT, the needle is pointing in the right direction!

You're gonna have a hard time convincing alot of people of that Ralph. I say there's progress just not fast enough. That team should have been an NCAA team, but allowed some internal jealousy to derail them. Again, that's why this team sorely needs a locker room leader or a gorup of 2-3 guys to lead by example and hold other players accountable. It just simply has to happen.

As I said I think they'll be better.

Yes, we all love the NIT.

You sound like a PR machine for Mick, unfortunately if anything you have the opposite effect.

It is all relative.

If UC does well this coming year, then Mick stays and the program seems more appealing to these top tier recruits.

If UC performs poorly this upcoming season it is going to be difficult to persuade these top recruits to be part of a program that is struggling to get back to national recognition.

There is nothing to really hang your hat on if you are Mick in that situation. The team would be falling short of the NCAA Tourny and the attendace would be decreasing with more and more upset fans. Hard to sell your program to a guy like Teague with all those factors.

Bottom line: Make the NCAA Tourny and good things will happen.

Exactly. If you make the tournament recruits will want to come play for you. If you advance in the tournament top tier talent will come.

id feel a lot better about 2011 if were leading for Davis, but IU is pretty clear cut in the lead right now.

Is it possible to expand on this? Or have we already and I missed it? Everything I heard early in the year was that this was a really good group of guys that liked each other. If there was a weakness, it was that the team did not have enough fire.

Its disappointing to hear otherwise.
