In your all time favorite bearcats?

To me, he is on the low end of people drafted. 1 and done guys just cant rank in my top 10. I need to be able to watch them year in and year out to get that appreciation.

In no order, Top 5 Recent Bearcats are:

1. Kenyon Martin
2. Steve Logan
3. Danny Fortson
4. Dontonio Wingfield
5. Nick Van Exel

In the next 5 you would have to consider Jason Maxiel, Eric Hicks, Deonta Vaughn, Dermarr Johnson, Kenny Saterfield, and Leonard Stokes. Not sure I can put Lance with any of these guys.

And I know I am leaving a couple guys off the Final 4 and Elite 8 teams. This is just off the top of my head.

He'd be outside of my top 20 easily. In no particular order, I'll ramble off some of my favorites that I'd personally have above him:

Martin, Logan, Fortson, Maxiell, Hicks, Burton, Patterson, Durden, Van Exel, Blount, Melvin Levitt, Mickeal, Field Williams, James White, Bufford, Terry Nelson, Vaughn, Bobbit, Flint, Gregor..... There's probably more, and I don't think I should count the Big O and other guys that I was too young to see.

All that said, loved Lance and I think many have been too hard on the kid since his departure. For me, it's just hard to have him above so many guys that I watched for years, that were on better teams as well. (I would have Lance over Demarr though)

I would definitely put Lance above Field and Bobbit. Field was very one dimensional and couldn't play D to save his life. Bobbit was either great or awful. No consistency even as a senior. I may even put him ahead of James White.

My top 10 list:

  1. Eric Hicks
  2. Kenyon Martin
  3. Oscar Robertson
  4. Jason Maxiell
  5. Nick Van Exel
  6. Steve Logan
  7. Deonta Vaughn
  8. Tony Bobbitt
  9. Melvin Levett
  10. Lance Stephenson

I know these are not the best Bearcats in history, but they're my favorites. James White was in there until he let his teammates down for the NIT.

As a player, I would DEFINITELY put him ahead as well. No doubt. I was just throwing out guys I'll remember the most and who were my favorites to watch. I always really liked Tony, when he wasn't leaving the team, he was always kind of a trip. And when he was on...whew. White was a blast to watch, although his game was frustrating at times. And Williams... well for me, Burton may be my one of my favorite players ever. (Don't ask me why, I'm not even sure. It's not based on skill that's for sure) and I always thought Field was kinda similar, except he couldn't drive, and they were only a few years removed. So I always really dug Field too.

Honestly, I could probably add even more guys just cuz they were here longer and the teams were better, so I have better memories. To each their own when it comes to these things. You can look at it so many different ways..... I might even *GASP* put Stokes above Lance in my list. He was always a pretty smart kid, tried hard, and was here all 4 years. But he's nowhere close to the player.

You clowns are delusional. Anything near the top 20 is just stupid. Lance did nothing spectacular in his time here. He had an average career... Did he have above average talent? Sure, was it fully utilized, not a chance.

Personally, I would have to agree. I know I don't see Wingfield on anyone's list and he averaged 18+ and carried a team to the tourney. Years removed from Lance, will he rank higher than Dontonio, or any number of other players, or is it just cuz it's a fresher subject? I do find it kinda hard to believe that his name would probably be on these lists 5 years from now.

No love for Pete Mickeal? Durden? Burton? C'mon now! :D

The main reason why I consider putting him around 15-20 is that his situation was special. He came to UC when us fans needed it most. He brought excitement before and during a rough season.

Like I said, not the best 10, my favorite 10. There were years when I really didn't pay much attention to UC, or sports in general. So I may lack appreciation for some Bearcats due to my spotty fandom during puberty. The ladies were always more important. :)

Just curious, how many of you would rank Deonta ahead of Lance in your favorites? I'm thinking I'm in the minority that would, seems the love for DV really evaporated along with his play this year.

I agree with most on here. I would put Lance somewhere in the 7-15 range. I read the question as favorite and not necessarily who is the best. I agree with greatone that a one-and-done guy makes it hard to put him too high, especially since he didn't dominate. But Lance had that stud quality about him that not many can match. That alone puts him higher in my book. If you go back and look at highlights, the one of him jumping over the guy and when he made the Xavier guy fall on the floor easily come to mind. Also the flick of the wrist alley-oop he threw early in the season from mid-court. Some of my favorites include:

Kenyon is #1, Hicks might be #2, from there Steve Logan, Immanuel McElroy, Melvin Levitt, Ruben Patterson, Danny Fortson, Jason Maxiell, Pete Mickael, LaZelle Durden, Jamaal Davis are all up there in no particular order. Honestly I could keep naming names all day. I was always a big Chad Moore fan, too bad his back gave him troubles.

This. Seriously this is a guy who came for one year, when the team didn't even make the NCAA tourney, and when he really wasn't all we were expecting him to be(not his fault entirely, expectations were probably too high) How he makes the top ten is crazy, and I would be shocked if people had him higher then DV.

Like my friend BA1, Lance is high on my list. I just loved his attitude and desire to win.

1) Nick Van Excel
2) Kenyon Martin
3) Lazelle Durden
4) Steve Logan
5) Lance Stephenson
6) Darnell Burton
7) Bobby Brannen
8) Tony Bobbitt
9) Herb Jones
10) Pat Cummings

Im sure John Meeker wanted to win very badly too, is he on the list?

No mad max? No helicopter? No Kobe stopper? No fortson? No hicks?.... i could go on and on. Lance Stephenson is no where near the top 10, nor 20.
