I feel like you romanticize the past. Did we not lose to ecu last year? Did we not give up a lead to Iowa last year in the tourney? Did we not blow a 20 pt lead in the last 10min to Nevada? Did we not lose to Ohio university in ot? Did we not lose to a lot of bad basketball programs over the years? Have we been a great ft shooting team over the years? These are just a few instances and there are more.., I’m not sure how you think things used to be. We have also played a tough schedule as opposed to previous cupcake schedules in the past.

Dude

I hated the ECU loss when it happened last year. But I'll give Mick or John Brannen one screw up like that per year in conference. It happens. On the road shit happens sometimes.

BUT the UCF loss was just wrong.

In Fact.. if you go back to 2013-2014 season (the start of the AAC) up until Mick's last day as the coach:

Do you know how many sub 100 losses that Mick Cronin had (that he coached):

2

One to ECU... which to some fans, seemed to happen every single week., But it didn't.

And one to #121 Nebraska, which was a double OT road game which they lost by 1 point

in 6 seasons of AAC play, 1 bad loss to an AAC opponent and another in tough road environment that went to double OT against a Big 10 team.

I think its you who is misremembering.

We have double the sub 100 losses this season than we've had in 6 plus seasons COMBINED!!!!!

EVERYONE TAKE NOTE WHO BROUGHT UP THE PAST THOUGH. IT WASN'T ME

AND don't give me that tough schedule BS

Guess how many top 100 teams bowling green beat this year: 1 (UC)

Guess how many Colgate beat?: 1 (UC)

Guess how many road top 100 wins UCF has: that's right 1 (UC), in fact we joined UCF's long list of road kills that includes Illinois state, Tulane, & ECU

players will have better stats vs sub 250 teams than top 150 teams, that's probably not a shocker to anybody. If you look at conference only the numbers are pretty similar (conference is weaker overall by a little bit, but the bottom 2 teams aren't nearly as awful as last year)

Conference numbers last year vs this year

Jarron - 108.3 vs 105.7
Tre - 108.5 vs 107.9
Keith - 102.8 vs 103.8

Tre's usage rate has gone up a pretty good bit from 16.2 to 20.1. Keith's has gone up slightly from 20.7 to 21.9. Higher usage rate tends to drive ORTG down.

eFG% and TS are way up for Jarron and Tre. Slightly down for Keith. Turnover rate way up on Jarron and Tre, Keith's is actually down. Assist rate way up on Jarron, up a decent amount of Tre, almost identical on Keith.

Everybody struggled early on with the new system. Nobody is going to deny that. Outside of Vogt nobody on the team played very well before January. But at the very least they've gone back to who they were after January.

If you look at PRPG!, which is sorta like WAR in baseball for offense in basketball.

PRPG! last year in conference vs this year in conference

Jarron 5.3 vs 4.7

Tre - 2.3 vs 3.5

Keith - 2.2 vs 2.7

Justin, please stop putting so much blank space in your posts. I just removed 25 lines of blank space from a post with only 14 lines of actual text. You can say what you want without taking up the entire screen.

If micks the best coach ever and brannen is the worst coach ever, it doesn’t matter. Mick isn’t coming back man. You’re the guy that still wants Huggins back 20 years later. Only with mick. They aren’t coming back. Oh, let me guess, you didn’t bring it up. Of course not, always someone else

On another note, I’m very curious how we come out against Houston. Going to be a very hard game. We haven’t won there in years. Curious if brannen can get these guys up to play. Or if we have anything up our sleeves. Will be interesting

couldn't be a better time to get nearly a week off. i used to hate having this many days off before a big game cause we would kinda lose our flow, but this team needs the rest.

You continue to compare a coach who is in his first season at UC vs Mick in years 8+ at UC. How can you logically think that is fair way to analyze CJB? I am genuinely curious. Please don't just ignore

I like that both teams have a week off. Even playing field, aside from being at Houston, let’s see who comes to play.

Time for some mental relaxation! Also time to possibly re think aggressive Tre. My only concern is Tre was an important assist guy before he turned scorer. There hasnt been blow outs with his scoring outburst. Just a minor concern.

I was baited into the Mick debated.

I don’t want to debate mick Cronin.

I just want Brannen to win. Period.

I already gave him a ton of props for beating @WSU, @temple and Houston. And he’ll get even more respect from me if he can beat Houston at home.

But we regressed. I pointed it out and all hell broke loose.

I’m done arguing mick. I hope they lose out so they don’t take our spot

Bc you can. Think about it

I thought about it....And I don't think it's a fair way to assess CJB.

You are basically using Mick's prime as a comparison point. Mick had his players and his system fully implemented. Mick is no doubt one of the best defensive coach's in the country. And you are comparing CJB to that standard. CJB can't coach that matchup zone. It's not his style or would he be able to coach it as well as Mick. Not a knock on CJB, just a fact. He is a man to man defensive coach.

Now I know people will say...Good coaches adjust to their personnel. I agree with that, but as a new coach you have to build a system you believe in. A system you are an expert in. So that's what he did. I know he has adjusted offensively.

Defensively, the man hasn't looked great all the time. But it grades out better than the zone. So it's hard to switch to a D that is statistically worse.

At the end of the day, CJB is still learning during his 1st year at this level. Just like Mick did. Just like Huggs did.

He’s yet to run out a 2-3 zone.

That’s all I’m asking him to try

Most expect Grimes to return.

Was a big reason why they lost against Memphis.

I know grimes was a highly rated recruit but he’s about the 6th guy I’m scared of the most on that team. He has good games but he’s terrible more often than not. Jarrue is their key. Can’t let him start driving and opening things up. He’s also dumb, have to use that to your advantage
