He looks like Alec Baldwin on Weight Watchers!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhahahaaha.

Damn. I missed a ton of funny happens while at the gym and having my nose in a book.

Thanks to all those contributing and not getting all weird on the Huggs v. Wyler v. Nancy v. Cronin + Ralph v. The World.

Live-rpi.com has UC 36th in the ratings and WVU 18th. Four of our next 5 opponents have better rpi numbers than the Bearcats. This could be a very lucrative span for this team in many ways.

up to 32 now :)

Mich St. sucks... they lost again tonight. They are riding a couple wins over top 25 teams and milking them for allllllllll they're worth.

Hopefully all the players got a full slab and loaded baked potato and ate plenty of straws and chips! They will have so much starch and rib sticking meat, they will be a step behind.

I cannot believe how high Eggsavier is in the RPI. It is all a product of scheduling teams between 150-199, as opposed to us scheduling a ton of teams 200 or higher.

agreed. RPI is probably one of the dumbest ways of evaluating teams imo.

For instance, Cincy goes 16-0 and is in the high 50's low 60s. Proceeds to lose 3 of its next 5 games, and is now ranked in the top 30.

RPI rewards schools for not playing poor teams, but it really doesnt put enough emphasis on if teams win, nor how they win (treats 1 pt wins same as 25 pt wins, and 1 pt road losses the same as 25 pt road beatdowns). The only good thing it has going for it is, is in the mid 2000's they finally changed the formula to weight road games slightly differently so you get more pts for road wins, and docked less if you lose on the road

I just read an interesting note in Paul Dehner Jr's Bearcat Breakfast this morning. It seems that since there is a women's basketball game at 5/3 Arena Saturday afternoon, Huggs and his squad will have a 10AM shootaround for an 8PM game. Something tells me Huggy Bear wasn't too happy to hear that news.

Well if he complains too much, they can have a 7:30 P.M. slot

I mean, there won't be too many fans there to heckle 'em at that time.

Game 22: West Virginia at Cincinnati
Saturday, Jan. 29 - 8 p.m. (EST) - Fifth Third Arena (13,176) - Cincinnati, Ohio
TV: FOX Sports Ohio/BIG EAST Network - Radio: 700 WLW

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
-On Wednesday, the Mountaineers fell to Louisville, 55-54. WVU, which led 37-26 at halftime, went over 11 minutes without a field goal in the second half to allow the Cardinals to come back and win the game.
-Senior guard Casey Mitchell, WVU's leading scorer at 16.6 ppg, has been suspended indefinitely, head coach Bob Huggins announced on Monday. Mitchell ranks in the BIG EAST top 10 in ppg, free throw percentage, and made three-point field goals.
-The Mountaineers lead the BIG EAST in three-point field goal percentage defense, allowing opponents to shoot just .278 from behind the arc. They also rank second in the conference in offensive rebounds, averaging 15.21 offensive boards per game.
-Cincinnati is 10-8 all-time against WVU and is 4-4 in BIG EAST games against the Mountaineers. UC lost to WVU 54-51 on March. 11, 2010 at Madison Square Garden.

I see the Cats winning by 4. Expect a low scoring affair throughout with both teams looking sloppy. Typical Huggs/Cronin style game.

Sidenote:

It blows that this game is on FSN-OH.

This game should be on ESPN. (Not ESPN3.com which it will also be broadcast on)

I agree, but seeing how neither team is ranked, we will take what we can get I guess.

Leaving for FTA and am nervous about tonight. This is such a big game for so many reasons. I am hoping for few anxious moments and a similar game and result to the XU game. GO BEARCATS!

A quick glance tells me that WVU's three primary players at sf, pf, c had 32 pts. And 24 boards. We had 7 guys play those positions and got 19 and 19 out of them. In all 4 of the losses our frontline has been embarrassed.

Huggins whipped Cronin tonight, while WVU remained patient and disciplined on offense, UC became very impatient and chucked up 29 threes. Don't see where 5 more wins will come from to get to the necessary 10.
