Yancy along with Casper Ware were added to the Pistons summer league roster. Good luck to the big fella!

There will be lots of people watching in Orlando. He needs to impress and he can, given the competition.

I wish him the best but I cant see him making a roster. He lacks so much in quickness and effort.

I really never got that second criticism. He's not fast, but he hasn't lacked in terms of effort, in quite some time.

I think it's a great opportunity for Yancy. I think Yancy will get better. The NBA experience will be great for him and he does work on his game. He is young and I believe his best basketball is in front of him. I'm not saying he will be an all-star but he will have a career I think. Even if he gets cut this season.

I just dont see it honestly. He will make his money overseas... Pure size and strength with a little touch only gets you so far, and for him that line is drawn at the NBA. Limited offensive moves and zero motor doesnt bode well.

Hopefully he doesn't have to go to europe, at that point, he might as well skip basketball. Very few of those dudes make any real money.

Salary no where near NBA but not terrible either considering that often living expenses are paid for and the player isn't taxed on their salary.

It's true that their board and expenses are paid for, it's also true that many of the players only make 5 figures. That article doesn't really dive into the fact, that there are kids over there making 20-30k a year.
Not really worth it imo.
Then again, he could be an exception.

i know a few people very well that have played overseas. if you get in an upper level league- you will make a lot of money. all of the countries have a associations, and the association is broken down into levels- i.e. an A league, B league, C league etc. upper level leagues pay well. lower level leagues do not pay that well. a big problem, regardless of what level you play at, is actually seeing that money. most of the teams do not pay you on time, and you often have to wait years to see all the money in your contract, if ever. i have one friend in particular who is an 8 year veteran and is owed money from 4 different teams still from his career.

however, as you all have said- you get your apartment, car, per diem all taken care of by the team. also, all of the money is post-tax. so if you sign a 50K contract, you are getting 50K, not whatever would remain after taxes.

You can make a good living overseas and many Bearcats have done it. Sure beats a nine to five.

But he is a big body that can defend and that gives him a chance.

Defense and rebounding have always been pretty sound with YG. IMO...It will depend on his effort in running up and down the court and not hiding on the offensive end. We've all seen stretches where he has been both great and poor at this. It will depend on which Yancy shows up during the time he is evaluated. And if he does make a roster, he better sustain that effort because he will be one of the last guys on the roster.

I would like to think that getting the chance to wear an NBA jersey would light a fire under Yancys a$$ but nothing has to this point so I find it unlikely. That being sad, I think it is an ideal situation for him with another UC guy being there, especially considering Maxiell is an absolute work-horse and can show Yancy the effort that is required to make it in the league. As a sudo Pistons fan (become a fan of them once they drafted Maxiell then they went on a great run) I would like to see Yancy make the team... just dont see it tho. They have a lot of big men already

Again, I didn't see a lack of effort last year or the last half of his junior year. Point totals alone, do not equate to effort. Never the less, I don't think anybody expects him to land on the pistons roster.
There will be owners and scouts from other teams, particularly those who stashed euro picks to watch the games. I think if he lands, it will probably be the Knicks. I still can't believe San Antonio took a chance on that kid from Purdue with the bad legs. They're aged, so is Boston.
