Yancy

This outcome is of little surprise. Yancy's NBA days are over before even getting started.

Heres an overseas question for ya.... Who would you rather have on your team. Yancy Gates or Bobby Brannen?

Good idea for Yancy to get some experience in a country that loves their basketball. Hopefully he stays committed to the game. If he makes the commitment there is no doubt he's an NBA forward.

Agree with LL. He doesnt have the drive or skill to get into the NBA. He lacks quickness.

I disagree. I'm not going to say it will happen. If I had to venture a wager, I would say it will not. But, if Yancy shows the consistent effort he did down the stretch last year, he would be a quality NBA player. Of course that's been his story his entire collegiate career.

As far as your assertion that he lacks the skill- he took it to Henry Sims in that epic game at the Garden last year. He has game. True, low-post game. He just hasn't unlocked the key to using it on a consistent basis. Hopefully for his sake he does.

On a side note I love how offended LL seemed to be in his post when replying to my initial one. Ax to grind? :D

I disagree with this comment.

I never thought Gates was NBA material.

But Brannen was 6'-7". His game played alright in Conference USA, but never would have held up in the Big East. He'd have been average or worse in the BE.

Dumb comparison.

Was not a comparison. just a question. And brannen was asked several times to play in the NBA. he was an overseas star. No way he would have been "average". That's clown like.

Overseas star? Yeah, in Australia. Baywatch Bobby.

Brannen never would have made it in the NBA.

The more I read your posts, the more I realize the only Legend is the one that lives in your senile mind.

Please upgrade your posts with substance. I think the entire board would be thankful.

Gotta disagree. If his "consistent" effort down the stretch would make him a quality NBA player than he would have been drafted. Even down the stretch he lacked the effort that the NBA requires. It just happened to be good effort for the standards that we became used to with Yancy.

He has decent skill but is wayyyyyy too slow to guard NBA power forwards. Hell, teams tried their best to isolate him in a pick and roll because of how bad he was against defending it. That was a big reason why UC played a lot of zone. The NBA is all pick and roll....He also doesn't have any post moves and that is a big negative considering his game is suited towards being a back to the basket player.

Bobby Brannen had a lot of skills that Yancy never had but Yancy was the better over all player despite his major vices.

He is just so slow with everything. Plus, he comes off like a person who has a terrible on the court attitude.
