'10 CA PG Deonte Burton (Nevada Verbal)

Help Support BearcatTalk:

Hopefully it will be next week and we can can have Ratliff and Burton on campus at the same time. Would be great to have both of these guys in Bearcat uni's next year.

That would make my wish list complete. I'm a bit worried about the short visit by Deonte. If he doesn't make it back it could hurt us. Again, I'm very hopeful that immediate playing time will help secure both these young men. Don't know how it'd translate in wins next season, but it'll change the dynamic of the team and we need that.

UCLA? Well, they do have a pretty good history with guards. I still remember Tyus Edny hitting the hoop against Mizzou at the buzzer.

I tried to find information regarding Burton's intentions to sign with UCLA, but couldn't find anything. I also could not confirm they've extended an offer. UCLA is still heavily pursuing Ray McCallum and Trey Zeigler, both highly touted guards in the top 50 for 2010.

The team is also still actively recruiting 6-1 guard Deonte Burton, who has narrowed his choices to Nevada, UCLA, Cincinnati and Washington State.

"Obviously, we're still recruiting and we'd like to add a point guard who can also help fill that position," Carter said.

I'm positive Burton has offers from Cincinnati, Nevada and Washington State. It is very likely that UCLA has offered, especially since they're hosting/hosted him for an offical visit.

The report was saying when UCLA sent the offer he would commit I believe.

not true he'll be back in cinncy on fri. til sun. or mon. and e's decided not to go to washington. we'll be making a decision after he comes back from cinncy.

Well let me use my first post on this forum to say how much a hard nosed player, and fierce competitor like Deonte would be welcome at UC, not to mention a player of his skill level. UC was once known for making great players like Deonte with great work ethic and desire even better, and I believe we're on the cusp of having that happen again. The campus is beautiful (can honestly say I've been astonished at the transformation since I went to school) and the fan base is dying to bring back that tough minded Bearcat attitude that Deonte seems to have. UCLA and others have great programs too, but Deonte could be part of the rebirth of something special at Cincinnati.

Whatever happens, I hope his decision works out great for him and for his family. We would be proud to welcome all of you into the Bearcat family!

When all is said and done, I hope this thread becomes proof of the impact a message board -- or a fan base in general -- has on recruits' decisions.

We want you here, Deonte!
