I'd rather bring in a solid shooter who can develop than a one and done guy. It really messes with team chemistry, IMO.

If we keep bringing in frosh stars who leave, what happens is that no juniors or seniors step up into the leadership role.

"Also playing well for Indiana Elite was Jeremiah Davis. The combo guard played under control the entire game, and showed some increased ability with his decisions of when to look to score and when to look to pass. He still is more of a shooting guard, but Davis can certainly slide on the ball when needed. He was hitting shots from deep, using his strength and handle to get into the mid-range and finish, and then also set up his teammates. Overall it was a definite positive performance for Davis."

"At this point Jeremiah Davis insists that he has no timeline, and said he has standing offers from Michigan State, Indiana, Cincinnati, Miami-Florida, and Dayton. Also Ohio State and Purdue are in the mix."

Indiana Elite, regarded as one of the nation’s top AAU programs, still got the team title with Washington’s Cody Zeller scoring 12 points and Muncie Central’s Jeremiah Davis adding eight.

Zeller, the brother of Mr. Basketballs Luke and Tyler, just came off a Class 3A state championship game in which he led the Hatchets to the title with a state finals record 26 rebounds.

“It’s another championship, but that’s about all that they have in common,” Zeller said of the comparison between state and AAU titles.

The 6-10 Zeller has been using the spring and summer AAU season to win some more championships but also work on his individual skills for college recruiters.

“It’s some of the best competition around in the country, and it shows me what I need to work on,” Zeller said. “It is always fun competing against the best teams. It takes some time to get used to what other people are doing (in AAU), but I think we played pretty well as a team this weekend.”

Zeller has been offered scholarships from Butler, Florida, Indiana, Purdue and Iowa.

“I don’t mind it,” Zeller said of the recruiting business. “It is a good problem to have when college coaches are knocking on your door. I will probably narrow it down at the end of the summer and take my visits my senior year.”

The individual and team games are also big for Davis, a highly recruited player as well.

“I have a lot of fun playing with my teammates and playing for Indiana Elite,” Davis said. “I don’t have to do as much because I have great teammates. We shared this victory as a team, and the MVP award went to the whole team.”

Davis, a 6-2 guard, has been offered a scholarship by Indiana, Purdue, Tennessee, Ball State, Cincinnati and Xavier.

“I am not going to narrow it down to a list,” Davis said. “I am just going to pick a school and hopefully make the right decision.”

"Davis did just that. He attacked the rim at will, and finished many shots around the bucket. His three point jumper wasn't falling in the championship as it had earlier in the weekend, but still he controlled the pace. Davis only finished with eight points in the finals, but he created for his teammates and took care of the ball dishing out numerous assists for the well balanced attack."

"Landing Davis, a powerful 6-3 guard who can play on or off the ball, could actually be better long term for a program trying to establish stability than a one-and-done talent like Marquis Teague. The Muncie Central guard was once considered a Michigan State lean, but Indiana has turned up the heat on Davis and might be the school to beat along with Cincinnati. Davis has talked about rooming with Etherington in college, but is staying the course with his pledge to hold off on a decision until he, in his words, “finds the right fit.” If Zeller is priority No. 1 for IU, Davis is 1A."

I was always afraid of Michigan ST. swooping in to get JD but it looks like they have there player already for 2011. Now its supposibly down to us and IU and i think Cronin can pull it off!!!!

I think there are more players than IU and UC for Davis but I do think we have a good shot here. The fact that Mick made the trip personally will help.

Some feel he is a Mich. State lean. Indiana has invested a ton of time in him and Aaron Thomas. Mick has also made him a priority.

Im hoping since michigan state just landed Anderson who plays the same position as JD will give us a better shot at him!! I think its down to UC and IU and whoever gets JD the other will get Aaron Thomas. I know that Aaron is supposibly a sf but this kid has SG written all over him.

It's apparent that LS (and DV) leaving didn't exactly open the door to someone willing to attempt a grab at their starting spots. It's going to be a masterful sales job that MC will be performing this year.

Anderson is more of a 2/3, same with A. Thomas. JD is more of a 1/2 and most schools are recruiting him as a PG. IMO the signing of Anderson won't have much of an affect on JD.

I think he will find a way to lure a couple very good players here i think as soon as either JD or Aaron does commit someone like Chane will be there right after them. Can we find an elite scorer to come here or are we just settling for really good athletes that might not be the best basketball players, either way i will be cheering them on and hope no matter what rankings the recruits we get are but how good we play on the court I want a respectible yr this yr and years to come lets go UC!!!

CAN I GET A HOO HAA TWO TIMES TUESDAY? Anyone? :)

Indiana just signed A 7 ft 1 center how many scholarships do the Hoosiers have left? They cant have no more than 1 i wouldnt think!!!! So do they go after JD or Aaron Thomas or even the Zeller kid? Went and also checked out the IU roster and they have 3 to 4 PGs and 3 to 4 SGs with 2 SGs signed for 2010 is this a advantage for us?
