Also expected to be at Marshall is former Muncie, Ind., star guard Jeremiah Davis - who is now at Huntington Prep.

Whatever happened to Jeremiah Davis? Are we not interested anymore? Why did he go so far down hill after he was such a hot commodity 5 months ago? I really liked this kid when we used to talk about him, what happened?

My understanding is that a lot of programs kind of cooled off on him. I think his game may not have progressed like everyone had thought it would and some other prospects passed him up. I know Michigan State backed off and they were really high on him. I believe we backed off too. Jeff can probably give you a little more insight but this is what I have been hearing.

The main problem was the way he has handled his recruitment. While most were trimming lists and getting in position to make an educated choice, Jeremiah was adding any and every school that showed interest. He is still on the UC radar, but moved down the list for those reasons. He's a good kid, just one that has not been given much good advice from those around him over the last few months...

I almost posted the exact same question tonight. I remember earlier in the year following his recruitment on various team sites. IU fans were in constant heated debates about who was the more important 2011 recruit... Teague or Davis. A lot of their fans conceded that Teague was the better talent, but that four years of Davis would be more important to the revival of their program.

Now he just seems like an afterthought in the recruiting world. Maybe he's just trying to drum up more attention in the late signing period. Thanks for the info Chad.

Jeremiah's stock began to drop in the spring AAU season. His play was seen by many as mediocre at best. Some even said his game had stagnated or gone backwards while others had moved forward.

I believe Chad is right in what he says but I also think many see him as a combo guard without a great skill set for either guard spot in high D1 ball. He hasn't proven he can be a good pg and many feel he lacks the athleticism and ability to create his own shot.

So the handling problem goes beyond not trimming a list. It also is a problem of them not guiding him to a true position and allowing him to grow and develop in it. I think there is a true persception issue here. Many said this while he was scoring 15-18 pts. in some games during the spring.

That said, he is a great kid with a great family and would represent a University well.

Have you heard anything about a decision date?

Jeremiah Davis is on campus for an official visit with Cincinnati this weekend. JD took in the Bearcats football game against S. Florida last night. Jeremiah is ranked 123rd by Rivals and was a hot commodity coming into the spring evaluation period. He still has drawn interest and offers from several other high D1 programs.

Davis, in my opinion, is a combo guard at this point. He is a very good passer and has worked very hard to make the transition from sg to pg. He can shoot the 3 and is a dangerous catch and shoot threat. Jeremiah can score the basketball. He is solidly built and can get to the rim and finish.

He has excellent court vision and rebounds very well from the perimeter but questions remain about his ability to create his own shots and ability to guard faster, more athletic guards. Though typically listed at 6'2"-6'3" and 195-205 lbs., he should be able to defend both backcourt positions.

This visit comes amid rumors and whispers that there is another commit on the horizon. UC has a long relationship with JD and as we know they have been shopping for a point guard.

If Davis does commit it will be somewhat of a surprise to me. Only because I thought they would pursue a couple bigs to close the class out. He is a great young man and is a part of a fine family that has shown him great support and guidance thru the recruiting process. Jeremiah will be a solid, fundamentally sound player for somebody. Is it the Bearcats?

I hope he does commit.

While his stock has taken a hit in the last 6 months for whatever reason, he is still a solid, fundamentally sound player that can score the ball as Jeff noted. I'd love to see him wear a Bearcat uniform once again.

It's Sunday night!!! Anything? :D

Well I see that BCL has an article up recapping his visit. Looks like no commitment at this time.

I will be interested to see if he decides to come here and if UC forces him to make a decision yet.

Jeremiah Davis has taken his time thru the whole recruiting process and I see no reason why that won't continue. I continue to believe we should sign 2 bigs. With Guyn, Parker, Cash, Dixon, Kilpatrick, and Sanders we are fine on the perimeter.

I'm just dying for some more concrete recruiting news... I'm getting antsy with the Fall signing period right around the corner.
