Willie Moore (6’3”, 175 lbs) of Aiken High in Cincinnati has earned his way into target lists of numerous schools the spring. The starting point guard for powerful Aiken has earned top 250 status in his 2012 class nationally among some scouting services...including the Miami RedHawks.

Willie Moore (6’3”, 175 lbs) of Aiken High in Cincinnati has earned his way into target lists of numerous schools the spring. The starting point guard for powerful Aiken has earned top 250 status in his 2012 class nationally among some scouting services.
The past season, Moore averaged approximately 5 points, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds. Moore expects those averages to skyrocket this coming season. He said, “Coach did not really play me because I was a sophomore. He finally played me at the end in the state tournament and he saw what I was doing from there.”

He spoke of his upcoming season with Aiken: “We are going to be alright. We just need a solid big man and 2 guard a little bit.”

Aiken could be dealing with the loss of another star player. Moore said one of his more high profile teammates, 2011 WF Aaron Thomas, is thinking about transferring across town to Western Hills High School. He indicated that Thomas has not been attending Aiken’s team conditioning.

Moore plays summer ball with All-Ohio Purple. Last year, AOP won the AAU national championship (15 year old division). Moore’s AAU teammates include Dwayne Stanford, Alphonso Washington, and Orlando Berry. He said he scores between 20 to 30 points a game for AOP.

Moore said he holds scholarship offers from Xavier, Ohio U., and Akron. Moore mentioned Miami-OH, Cincinnati, Dayton, Kent State, Penn State, Toledo, Louisville, Ohio State, and Kentucky as also showing interest. He added, “Right now, there are not a lot of schools looking at me, just a lot of MAC schools. Those are good schools looking at me.”

Moore has made an unofficial visit to Miami (Elite Camp). He also has plans to visit Kentucky, Louisville, Cincinnati, and Ohio State.

Moore enjoyed his time at Miami’s Elite camp. He said, “I love it. I love Miami. It is a good school. I’d come here and be the man at point guard.” He then added, “And hopefully Miami will offer me.”

Academically, Moore has a 3.2 GPA in his core classes.

Moore discussed his style of play:

“My strength is scoring. My weakness? Something I have been working on is to stop crying and pouting so much (laughing). Also, working hard on my defense and helping my team out a little bit.”

Another possible strength of Moore is his cockiness, which he sees as a belief in himself. He wants to tell the world, “Just watch me, because I am going to be one of the top players in the country hopefully.”
