'12 NY C Jordan Dickerson (Verbal SMU)

At this point, I'd say if Mick can get in on Dickerson, give it a go, and if not pocket the scholarship. No sense in taking unnecessary risks at this point. As stated before, I'm more than happy to take this team as-is.
would it be nice to have a extra big body in the middle for foul trouble? we only have two bigs

Probably not hard to dunk on Obekpa. He was blocking shots from 6'-1" kids. Whoop de do. Plus, he's only 6'-7" from what I'm hearing. JJ is gonna kick his butt big time.

...He blocked more than just guards. Obekpa is a tremendous shot blocker.
This fan base is pathetic sometimes. I get that they wanted him to come, but stop crying over spilt milk.
He's a highschool kid who elected to go elsewhere, life moves on.

i agree with most of this. why are we even still talking about obekpa? he didn't come to uc for whatever reason regardless of what people think it was.

if he was coming here, we would be ecstatic about his skill set. since he isn't we don't need to rip his skills.

It's not the fanbase. It's a very, very, limited portion and every fanbase has them. Everyone knows Obekpa is a good get and a very good shot blocker.

My questions would be:

1) does he fit the system Mick wants to run;
2) is it worth the time and effort to try and get in on him late, especially if UC hasn't been in touch at all

It's not like coaches don't just swoop in spotted owl style and snatch recruits sight unseen all the time...see: Calipari, John. I'm just not sure UC has the cache yet to do that kind of thing. It's not like Providence or South Carolina have a great profile or anything, but if they've developed a long standing relationship with a kid, it might not be worth trying to poach.

Let' be clear I don't see Dickerson here. I think they took a peek a while back and haven't pressed the issue.. That said this is recruiting.

Jordan Dickerson enjoyed his visit this week to Auburn and plans to check out SMU next Wednesday, his uncle told SNY.tv.

“No, he didn’t commit [to Auburn],” Darrell Crawford told SNY.tv, referring to the 7-footer from Brooklyn. “He liked [Auburn].”

Dickerson visited the SEC school after the tragedy involving the shooting death of three people, including two former Auburn football players.

“It was crazy,” Crawford said. “It was quiet where he was at.”

One advantage Auburn might have is that Dickerson’s former IMG Academy teammate, guard Brian Greene Jr., is committed to the Tigers.

“They said they need a big and being the fact that he went to IMG with Brian Greene, that was another reason [he liked it],” Crawford said of Dickerson.

Next up is a tentative visit next week to SMU, which is also involved with 2012 uncommitted wing Savon Goodman of Philly Constitution.

“We’re pushing for Wednesday,” Crawford said.

Dickerson is also mulling Providence and South Carolina and has visited both.

“That’s it,” Crawford said. “We ain’t doing no more. Then we [are] gonna sit down and we’re gonna make our decision.”

Looks like this ship has sailed. Not that anyone should be surprised by this. It would have been a shock if he had landed here.

If Lavin gets interested, Dickerson would probably consider playing for pay.

Your shtick is getting old, a brief vacation might be forthcoming?

Well the Obekpa thread got closed. What was I to do? :D

I hope UC isn't interested in Dickerson. He doesn't look like a Big East player to me. I do wish they'd get involved with that kid from California who just became eligible.
