Help Support BearcatTalk:

You know, this has to be pretty hard on a kid. I mean, he is making a decision that could effect the rest of his life. Way more so than just any other high school kids decision to attend college.

So, I hope he is able to make the decision that is right for him, not what others tell him to do. Oh....and I hope that he thinks the right decision is to become the next great Bearcat WR.

He has signed and sent his letter to MSU. Done deal for his freshman year. Might get homesick and want to come back to Nippert, never know. I wish him the best either way.

I have lost all respect for John Rodenburg. What a douche bag. He isn't even supporting the kid when he wants to take his time. In his comments he made it seem like he has something waiting under the table for him from Michigan St. I wouldn't be surprised if Rodenburg is an assistant at MSU in a couple years.

I played under Johnny R

The man knows football and cares about his players. He's hardcore, but in the end he wants his guys to succeed. If he does end up at Mich St, I think he would make a great college coach

I want to beleive you but here he says specifically doesn't care.

"To be honest, I could care less what he does now."
"I don't know whether he has signed it or not; I could care less. It's his fault."

Wow....

John R sounds like a major asshole there. I am a Moeller guy and it is very disappointing to hear that. Sounds way more concerned with Mich St than he does Monty. Sounds like he got his feelings a littler hurt and threw him under the bus.

Sadly I think Moeller is giving student athletes impression that Cincinnati is not the type of school they want their students to attend.

One : Why is the coach an asshole? Its very clear that he has tried to help Monty out in all ways possible and the kid doesn't get it. Im tired of all these 18 yr old kids thinking there big timers and crave attention.

Two : Sorry fellas but high end talent goes to the SEC, followed by the Big10 Pac12, then maybe the Big East. Its a simple process. The right choice for him was Mich State all along. None of this should shock anyone.

He is an asshole because he threw his player under the bus. A simple "I don't know" would have worked. He didn't have to say things like "I am done with him" or "I've washed my hands of the situation" or "If he screws it up, it's his fault." So maybe the kid had second thoughts about going away from home. It is his life and his choice. His coach needs to respect that. He sounded like he got his feelings hurt by a kid not returning his texts. Grow up.

And the other side... Maybe monty should grow up. 18 yr old kids turning this process into facetime. Its become a joke.

Look Im sure Moellers coach knows the situation alot better than any of us. There is a reason he stated what he stated. But Im going to trust a Head coach over some kid who has waivered and attempting to get as much publicity out of this as possible.

A coach saying he is done with a player for not responding to a text is an asshole. This isnt a 20 year old talking to a 18 year old.

He acted like a child when he couldnt get ahold of Monty.

No one, including myself, cared that he chose Mich St over UC. That is fine. Good school and good program. It is the coach throwing a fit like a 3 year old saying I am done with him... he is screwing this up...

That is a joke. Act like an adult.

At what point was Monty trying to get attention? Cause he wanted to make sure he was making the right decision for the next 5 years of his life?

He wasnt on twitter going nuts. He simply was making sure he made the best decision.

Rodenburg acted like a child. Grow up... Mans game.

Do you know for sure that he was trying to get face time? The kid was sick signing day. Ever think that this decision was weighing on him so much it made him sick?

Nope, this is bitter UC fans looking for something to gripe about for not getting a player they never should have gotten.

It is what it is. No one knows the circumstances. You can take the side of a 18yr old hotshot kid who wants attention, thats fine. I made the claim before ANY of this that this process had the LBJ effect, and thats been proven.

As for not responding to texts. Obviously the coach was reaching out to help the kid. Pretty immature that you can't respond to your coach who has helped you get to this position in life.

Who thinks they are a bigger deal here? Monty is a high school kid who is good at football. Really not that big of deal. But Moellers head coach was embarressed when Mich St asked what was going on and he didnt know.

Rodenburg can keep underachieving in the playoffs and losing to St. X every year...

Ok, yeah, you must be right. Personally, it didn't matter to me if Madaris signed with UC. Maybe it did for some Moeller fans/grads.

I love how you rip on people taking the side of a kid without knowing both sides yet you are going to take the side of guy who is a hot head without knowing both sides. Hope your house isn't made of glass.

Rodenburg is a freakin child. He had same response that LL would have had and that is why he is defending him

This has made an ugly turn. No one else really matters in this decision but the kid and his family. The head coach should never gone public with those comments, NEVER! If Monty wanted facetime I am sure he would had set up a press conference, cancelled, rescheduled then announced, then retracted and re-committed. He did not do any of that, he was with his family grinding out the decision. Best of luck to Monty.
