What other offers did he get?

Found this on another board, since there isn't much info regarding Strickland, besides that he was pretty well sought after before his injury....

Jamaree Strickland is a beast known affectionately as "T-Rex". B4 he got hurt he has been contacted by Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Fresno State, Missouri, Oregon, Oregon State, Pittsburgh, Santa Clara, Stanford, UC Santa Barbara, UNC, UNLV, Utah, Texas El Paso,Villanova,Washington, Washington State. He liked Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Missouri, Oklahoma, UNC, Washington, Washington State, and Villanova as his favorites because he grew up watching these programs and likes their style of play.

Found where this poster found his info from, interesting article...
http://norcalpreps.blogspot.com/2011/02/article-35-strickland-t-rex-rapper.html

Remember, the stats mentioned are from when he was a sophomore in HS. He tore his ACL/MCL before his junior year, missed that year, and then had a setback, missing his senior year. In prep school, as an earlier poster mentioned, he is averaging 18 and 10. He is on the number 1 prep team in the South and 12th in the country. He put up 41 and 13 against the number 3 prep team in the nation earlier this year. As mentioned in the article I cited, he only had played minimal basketball before HS and then had all of those setbacks. As mentioned in the article Bearcatjeff cited, he is big and strong and plays with his back to the basket and has some solid post moves. This is why I think he could be an impact player and potentially, a diamond in the rough.

What other offers did Dwayne Wade get other than Marquette? What about Deonta Vaughn, Oakland was only other offer, he #3 scorer in history of UC.

FWIW Strickland said a few days ago on twitter that he shouldn't have committed so early, so he may be hearing now of places he could have gone.

Wade didn't get recruited because of MAJOR academic issues. You can find that anywhere. He was known as a non qualifier. What offers does Strickland currently hold is what i was asking, not what he had when he was a soph. Anyone know this??

Also, it looks like all of these programs really wanted him. In an old article, I read on BearcatReport in the archives that he was sought after by some big time coaches and rivals had him as a 5 star.

Excerpt from BearcatReport....

At 6-foot-9 and 240 pounds, Jamaree Lamar Strickland is a force inside. Unfortunately, a knee injury last spring replaced summer competition with rehab. Despite the injury, the 5-star post prospect has become popular among college coaches throughout the nation.

Here is an excerpt from a University of Washington site (http://stage.mynorthwest.com/519/362074/Labor-Day-Weekend-Outlook).........,

A new name on the radar for UW in 2012 is Jamaree Lamar Strickland, a six-foot-nine and 240 lb. beast known affectionately as "T-Rex". According to Rivals, UW is already a favorite.

Hopefully, this sheds some light on the big unknown in this class and why I like him so much. I can understand why some have reserved their opinions on him, but here is my case, I realize that he could be a failure, but when you look at his strength, size, athletic ability, and the programs who were interested, he becomes a very interesting piece that could solve our puzzle regarding the lack of good interior post play.

Nobody big, because he fell off the face of the Earth after his injury and even tweeted that he should've gone to a different PREP (not our school, Patrick) school because he felt he wasn't getting enough exposure. Consider the circumstances-none of his games are recorded besides one right when he got back, he isn't going to a traditional power house, he hasn't played lots of organized basketball, and had an injury that takes time to heal from. His only other offers, to answer the question, was like NC A&T, San Jose St., and San Francisco. Remember he is signed with UC, so he only "had" offers at the beginning of this year, when no one had seen him play and he was just coming back from injury. He can't get scholly offers now that he signed his LOI, I believe.

That bothers me a bit. Glad his LOI is signed and I hope he puts his whole heart into being here. Sure he is getting attention as the season has gone on and heard some, "wish you were available" a few times.

Jamaree had 33 points and 16 boards per his last twitter post. I'm pretty excited about him actually. I don't think he will be an immediate impact guy from the way it sounds based on his physical strength, but a lefty big man that can put the ball in the basket has me excited.

I disagree, I think he can make an immediate impact. If he is big and strong and has half a brain, he can already contribute to our team with all of the lousy big men we have. He looks like he is built like Kelvin Gaines, but actually has post moves and rebounds well. I predict that he could score 8-10 ppg and grab 6-7 boards, which would be a huge improvement over what we have now.

You think he could score 8-10 ppg with 6-7 rpg next year?? I'm not even overly confident that Lawrence will be that productive as a Freshman. Hell, Chane Behanan barely puts up those type of numbers for UL.

I have no idea how much they will contribute. But Chane has a few other players to take away his opportunities. The opportunity will be there for the freshmen to contribute early if they are capable.

Russ Smith takes a lot of shots, but Chane is still second on the team in FG attempts. He gets about 9 a game. You are correct about there being opportunities next year. I just don't see Strickland being that type of immediate impact player. I'll be happy if he puts up those type of numbers by his Junior season.

He was a 4 to even 5 (on one site) star guy, remember. He has skills and has a big body, he should at least score 4-6 points off of putbacks from our horrible shooting. From some of the few highlights I've seen, he looks like a very good rebounder. It sounds like he has been getting calls from big-time schools, by the way he talks on twitter, and that we snatched him before people could see him back from injury. Best thing is, he already signed his LOI, so he can't back out now.

I hope you are right. I'd love to see him come in here and make a big splash. I think conditioning could be a problem though.

I doubt conditioning will be a problem, he is a healthy 6-9 240. He did gain lots of weight when he tore his ACLs, but then lost it all and got to a healthy weight. Not saying he will definitely be a stud, I haven't seen enough of him, but I think he is a diamond in the rough.
