He would probably come to campus for summer ball and get ruled academically ineligible. He would just sit out a year like Shaq Thomas. Mick wont let him go.

I don't understand. Is he not playing high school ball this year because of his grades? Why would he be ineligible? I thought someone said he might not qualify because he switched schools three times. That would mean his credits not his grades.

Are you talking about Morman or Strickland? I don't think Strickland has any grade issues, but Morman still has work to do I believe. But he is playing for Faith Baptist in Florida. I believe UC wanted him to sign early so he could focus on academics and make sure he was on the right track instead of dealing with coaches recruiting him, taking visits, etc.

Strickland missed a year due to injury. That's why he's playing a year of prep from my understanding.

I wish there was more on the kid than some video of him fresh off his injury, February 2011.
The only other stuff you see, is him dunking.
He's got size and a decent deal of athleticism from what I can tell.
He doesn't look shy in the post at least.

From One to the Other

One of the better big-man prospects at the Beach Blast who didn't get much coverage early from us was post-grad center Jamaree Strickland, a Cincinnati signee. A wide-bodied 6-foot-10 center originally from Oakland, Calif., Strickland proved over his three games that he was one of the more polished low-post scorers at the event.

After missing most of the last two seasons with an ACL injury, Strickland is starting to get back to his old form at Charlotte (N.C.) Queen City Prep. Coaches from QCP hope that Strickland can continue to improve on his explosion, and get into optimum shape, in his remaining time at the school before moving on to the other Queen City, where he'll suit up for Bearcats head coach Mick Cronin. Cronin was in attendance for Strickland's game on Saturday.

The 6-foot-10 bruiser is naturally strong and should get even stronger with more time in the weight room, according to QCP coaches, but he has really nice touch around the rim. Strickland posts up with authority, has strong hands to catch and chin the ball and is skilled enough to turn either way and shoot a soft hook shot over his defender. The addition of Strickland could give the Bearcats exactly what they've been looking for in a center who can score, taking some of the pressure off of the guards. The California native is still a work in progress, but as his knee continues to regain strength, making it easier for Strickland to condition, he shows a lot of potential

:D

It's nice to hear that he's playing the way a big man should. I love that he models his game after Zach Randolph. The era of KG-inspired big men crippled quality post moves and low-post scoring.

A 6-10 bruiser with touch around the rim? Do they make those??

I just have a feeling that this guy is really underrated. Considering how he was a 4-star before injury, I like his talent. Many have bashed me for liking him and not KJ, but I think Strickland is the real deal. Who knows, though, neither has played big time college basketball yet, so you never know how long it will take to adjust. I like how Morman is described as a gritty/competitive player, JaQuon Parker 2.0?

I agree. I think he will be a force along side Lawrence. If Cronin plays them. And that is a BIG if.

I am cautiously optimistic too. I think this summer will be huge for him once he gets to campus and starts working out. I was wondering the other day why Cheikh don't try a half hook on the low block. It's an old school shot that's tough to defend.

Do players ever come back better after an injury????

Didn't hurt Adrian Peterson this year.... Players can regain form, with most it just takes a while. He will be a year and a half removed from injury when he steps on campus, he should be close to fully recovered.
