I don't think he's willing to accept what kind of player he is on the basketball court. I thought he showed some toughness with inside D and rebounding last year, certainly not a 3 like he wants to be.

Jermaine is probably the most overrated recruit in recent history that I can remember.

He really is just bad at basketball. He is a long and athletic, but he has almost no basketball skill. I have no idea how he was such a highly rated recruit.

It was all potential. At his length and athleticism in high school I can see why he was so high. His injury's have really hurt. I also think he has had a lot of people chirping in his ear with what he should do. (As a bball player) it seems like he has listened to the wrong people so far.

Read this in the Enquire from Tom Groeschen: If you look for former UC recruit Jermaine Lawrence with Manhattan at its play-in game Tuesday night in Dayton, you might not see him. Lawrence has not played lately due to a violation of team rules, Manhattan spokesman Kevin Ross said

Heard he's still ineligible. Not playing tonight.

I was Lawrence play a few times this year. Sounds weird, but he really was better than his numbers. I remember there was a game where it felt like he had about 10 and 6 but he only had 6 and 3. He was improving at making his presence felt on the court. It would've been interesting for sure to see what our staff could've done with him here. He had a bad statistical year (I don't know the details of the suspension), but for him I think it's more about when it clicks. He did have a 19 point game. It may just happen for him slowly, but I'm not at the point where I'm writing off his career.

That was against a 5-15 Marist team.

I can tell off how u play against air if your any good. Go watch him play and stop googling stats. remember Ellis wouldn't be here if Lawrence didn't transfer. Pound 4 pound NOBODY on our team can match his skill set. More advanced than Clark.

What do you mean watch him play? We have ALL SEEN HIM PLAY. You said it all depends on environment and coaching. Well he failed here, and then goes to a weaker conference against MUCH weaker competition and still fails and even gets suspended. So obviously not the coach/environment. And the fact you dont care about stats says alot. That is how we compare things now adays. And deberry comes out looking better while playing against better competition. Field goal percentage doesnt mean anything to you? k

if you look at his kenpom he was absolutely dreadful on offense. Quadri Moore had a higher rating.

My point was that we know it's there. It just hasn't clicked for him. I bet it does before his career is over (assuming he doesn't have off the court stuff keeping him suspended).

Don't agree. That's not point. Where doesn't Lawrence start without Ellis? DeBerry couldn't play more than 6minutes at a time.

Exactly. We don't make tourney without Ellis. The swap of Lawrence for Ellis saved our season. I wish we could've had both. But that wasn't an option. So given the choice, I'd take Ellis all day.
