Warning: Sarcasm ahead

Woodson is currently said to be a top 30 type recruit. If he committed to UC, he'd fall to 100. :D

Seems to be the way the analysts handle ranking kids.

I think there is something to this but it is much more prevalent on the football side.

i have friends in multiple different college fan bases who all think the same thing. everyone thinks the scouting services are biased against guys that commit to their program. what reasonable and legitimate reason does rivals have to penalize a players ranking for committing to uc?

rivals was founded in seattle and now has a strong basis in the south since they bought alliance sports a while back. what do they possibly have against uC?

On the football side, it is more that recruits get bumped up in the rankings when they pick certain schools. Look at ND and their classes. Perfect example. Because there are less players in basketball, you don't see it nearly as much. Where you tend to see it with basketball is when a player commits very early.

And it is not an agenda against any one school. There are perceptions about programs (especially when it comes to football) and those perceptions play a big role in recruiting rankings.

Visit will be on Sun. per Chad B.

Is the new assistant coach hire, Antwon Jackson, in place or is he still transitioning over? Since he coaches the low post players it might be nice to have him here for the Woodson's visit. For such a needed player i'm sure they will role out the red carpet and do everything (legally) within their power to persuade him.

Hopefully we get him before St. John's starts recruiting him. We all know they dish out money to every recruit, the recruit's family, handlers, AAU coach, the guy who took his SATs, up to 5 members of the recruits entourage, Mick Cronin so he doesn't report the violations, the Democrat and Republican National committees, local police force, the United Way, and the Susan G Komen "Race for the Cure" to benefit breast cancer research.

Let's stop this please, jesting or not.

whats funny is that ND fans think that all of their players get downgraded when they commit there. i follow nd football and recruiting very closely. every fan base thinks the same way. regardless of whether this actually happens or not, every fan base thinks their players get slighted for committing to them by the powers that rank players. its the same way when any national writer says something negative about a team. according to the fan base- that guy/espn/sports illustrated/cbs etc, etc. automatically hates that school according to the fans.

Dominic Woodson has more than one destination decision to make in the coming months. Not only is he going through the college recruiting process, but Woodson also needs to settle on a new high school.

Four-star big man Dominic Woodson was one of the more productive players at NBPA Top 100 Camp. (Davide DePas)
The 6-foot-9 big man spent last season at Vermont Academy (Vt.), but the Louisville native is moving on.

“Vermont wasn't for me,” Woodson said. “It was too far away.”

He's looking at Findlay Prep (Nev.), Huntington Prep (W.Va.) and Sunrise Christian (Kan.), and plans to decide fairly soon. The top-50 post prospect would be a valuable asset for any of those three programs – as well as whichever college gets his commitment.

For now, Woodson is hearing from Oklahoma, Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Cincinnati, Memphis, Louisville, North Carolina State and Rhode Island. He has taken trips to Baylor and Texas A&M, and liked what he saw at both places.

Baylor: “Their big men get the ball a lot.”

Texas A&M: “We played a tournament there. It was nice, I got to walk around.”

Woodson, who averaged an impressive 9.0 points and 6.4 rebounds at NBPA Top 100 Camp, said Louisville, NC State, Baylor and Texas Tech are coming at him the hardest right now.

NC State, Baylor, Texas A&M, UConn, Memphis, Tennessee, Cincinnati, Rhode Island, Oklahoma & Kentucky remain for Dominic Woodson.

The senior's talent level and basketball IQ are both very high, but it’s his ability to pass the ball that makes him an elite offensive threat in the middle.

"I really like passing the ball inside and kicking it out to the open man" says Woodson.

Dominic is a willing passer and has a great skill set and feel for the game. He is equally adept at feeding an entry pass as he is dishing out of the post. According to Huntington Prep head coach Rob Fulford, Woodson racked up four assists during a recent pickup game.

At 6-foot-9 and 265-pounds, Woodson is a productive presence in the post, facing up in the midrange or high post areas. He’s also made a concerted effort to get in better shape during the offseason.
