He may have committed but there is no way the staff is ready to accept it. It is way too early in the game and they are recruiting some top 75 talent at that position. It's like the Devon Scott situation. Sometimes an offer is not exactly an offer.

Gotcha. I knew we had a ton of offers out there for 2015. I didn't know if Mick was open to any of those guys committing any time since we have 3 scholarships or what. Good to know he's there if we end up missing out on the top talent.

@RonMFlores
Div. 3 @CalHiSports all-stater Daryl Edwards (Fresno HS) will attend prep school per his high school coach #HSBB

NTS or Jack...is he even going to be on the 2015 radar? It seems like he might want to "re-open" his recruitment.

He will be on the radar. Always want to have options in case plans A, B, or C dont work out. He is definitely down on the list at this point though.

I'm still confused with this situation. He says he is committed but nothing has been announced.

I'm guessing he basically tried to commit without a commitable offer, meaning he wanted to come to here, but the staff didn't accept his commitment. IMO once Cobb committed, other guards like Edwards and Shreiner weren't "takes" anymore. Like Jack said, I'd imagine he'll be on the radar for '15 but mainly as a backup option to Beasley, Mitchell, Cheatham, etc.

I would be willing to bet we could just make him the main option now instead of a backup plan by the way our recruiting goes.

Clark, Moore, DeBerry, Caupain, Johnson, Morman, Thomas, Sanders. All primary targets...

Bingo. Too many people worry about stars next to a player's name. This coaching staff has an idea of who they want and what type of player they want and they have been very good at getting those players recently.

Highly doubtful. Even if you do, know that the commitment is as soft as it gets. Other players that are high on their board at the same position are setting up visits (Beasley, Mitchell, Cheatham). No way the staff accepts that commitment at this stage.

Yeah I get where were at with him. That post was from a while back.

Exactly. Also remember that its not just about evaluating talent but evaluating who you can get. We all would have loved to have Julius Randle down on the block this season but it would have been a complete waste of the staff's recruiting focus to try to get him. With the disadvantages UC has in the recruiting game compared to their competitors its important to identify 4 year players that they can develop to stay competitive at the highest level. Once some other things fall into place (Higher recruiting budget, state of the art facilities, plane for mick.. ect) Their success will already be in place and they will be primed to recruit and get higher caliber players. It's the nature of the situation right now.
