Didnt Miami of Ohio just lose to wright state by 10 on there home court? i think UC goes up there and wins by 14 pts. Coles teams usually punish the pace and force you to play sloppy the whole game so that they have a chance, Uc is pretty used to playing sloppy gritty ball and will not be affected..... if they can guard the 3 cincy will come out winning big. Uc has to much chemistry and to much talent and athleticism for Miami.

It was at Wright State and it was by 15. But this is still a trap game for sure, UC has always struggled in Oxford didn't they? Hopefully that ticket policy also will keep some Miami fans away as well.

I dont see this as a trap game, maybe i am wrong.

The sole fact that XU went down to Miami will have UC players focused.

Now i guess Xavier is a trap game... love them or hate them(UC), they are pretty damn good. Maybe Depaul is a trap game, everyone is going to say they are going to lose until they actually do. ( which you never know they could go undefeated and win the national championship) Great win tonight they deserved it, and there defense is getting better and better. Dion had a good scoring output and i think that he is starting to become another offensive possibility. I really think this is the very best team Cronin has had and the best team maybe UC has had in a long time.... GO UC!!!!!

Calm down buddy....this team is still going to struggle in the Big East to get good shots, as long as they continue to improve on the offensive side they have a pretty good shot to make the NCAA tourney

obviously you dont know that i was being sarcastic.. i really dont believe they are going to win the national championship, sorry i didnt put in my post i was being sarcastic.. FOR EVERYONE WHO READS THESE BLOGS I AM JUST KIDDING ABOUT UC WINNING THE NATIONAL TITLE... LOL...

I do however still believe they are really good and should be climbing up the rankings ladder...They are playing very good ball and yes they need to improve on the offensive end, but every team in the nation has something to improve on.....

I caught the sarcasm, the question is are they an NCAA caliber team?

Yes.

To this point they have been better than one of the top 68 or however the hell many teams that get into the dance now... they've been somewhere in the 20-30 range, imo.

The key is the continued development of the team. How will they respond when they finally lose? After the St. Francis game this Thursday they have a tricky 3 game stretch to navigate... if they are for real they come out of it with 3 wins...

Depaul, Seton Hall and Xavier.

All three will be decent tests but games the 'Cats SHOULD win. Will they continue to show the experience and maturity that's gotten them to this point and plow through?

That stretch of 3 including 2 decent teams is going to set the stage for what we should expect in the Big East. To this point they haven't faced an NCAA caliber team so we will at least see what they are made of.

Yes they will make the Ncaa tournament, for these reasons

1-There defense is tremendous
2-There chemistry is tremendous
3-There passing is very good
4-They are buying into what Cronin is coaching them
5-Gates has turned into a leader and is available for 40 minutes a game
6-Dion has a chip on his shoulder from last year and is starting to turn his biggest critic(ME) into a believer
7-Cash is starting to become a true point guard that can score and is a match up problem
8-Ibrahima is coming around
9-UC is 10 deep with pretty solid players
10- Rashad's shooting % is off the charts
11- They can match up with anyone athletically and or size wise
12- they are winning games by big numbers even with being cold from 3 (see #1)
13- There free throw shooting is helping them and not hindering them,,
14-SK does not have to lead the team in scoring.
15- I really think they feel they can beat anyone and I really believe they are back to being the UC Bearcats...

Agree with most of your points, though Gates needs to continue to progress, there is yet still SOOOO much more potential for him to tap into. As well, Rashad's struggled a bit, as has most of the team, shooting from the perimeter these past two games. The team needs to find their stroke from the perimeter again. The free throws could certainly be better, though they are now about middle of the pack and no longer at the bottom.

Again, their fate will be decided in Big East play..beating mediocre teams will get them no where. We are yet to see how they will play against the elite teams of the Big East, luckily for the Cats they have UCONN and G'town at home. One of those games is a MUST for their tourney chances

It is not a must. There are zero must wins at this point. Hate that term.

Tournament talk is premature. I feel that this is the best UC team since 2005.

I think the main reason we struggled from 3 is being away from home. Our home court is just going to fit our eye better. We should just shoot less 3's on the road. I looked into the stats today. We are around 25% on the road (or neutral) and 40% at home. I don't think we have shot over 35% when not at home. We have shot 50% at home. There seems to be a 15% differential either way. It needs to be factored into the game plan IMO.

Whether you like it or not you have to protect your home court, of course they can play themselves into a much better position, but I'm being realistic...its tough winning at Pitt and Syracuse. Honestly it may still come down to the final stretch for this team to decide their tourney fate

7-2 at home and 3-6 away gets it done. I don't think it matters a whole lot who they are. It would be nice to beat a couple top 25 teams.

Unfortunately it looks like San Diego St. is going to survive their game with San Francisco. Up 5 with 2:00 to go.

CI, it's nice to see you finally realizing that what Dion did in Canada and in the exhibitions was not a fluke. He's been great all year and was tremendous tonight. He was a man taking the ball to the rim, and did a very nice job finishing with his left hand. I still want to see what he does against the Big East but you have to admit he is a Big East quality guard.
