Ebuka would have been a huge get for next years team by no means did we need him for this years team, he would have played maybe 9 mpg behind Clark. Both of our centers are seniors which is a great selling point to a 2016 big. Playing time is everything to big time recruits and if we get a kid in the top 75 that is a center in the 2016 class he will play 30 mpg if his conditioning could do that. We are going to have a great product to sell in 2016 because are team will be really good if we get a quality center

You are correct. One of our main targets, Nick Ward, was a short drive up 71 in Columbus and he's going out of state to MSU. Jarron Cumberland is just up north as well in Wilmington, OH. There's plenty of talent within driving distance. Also throw Omari Spellman in there

Can't say Mick didn't try for Ward. Most believe we were in his final 3 with MSU and OSU. Born in Big Ten country, no shame in losing him to Izzo.

Spellman is from Ohio but plays high school ball on the east coast.

I know Mick saw Cumberland at least a couple times. We should see where he falls on the priority list when summer AAU and visits start.

Trying hard is great...for 5 year olds. Mick gets paid big bucks. I think we need to give up the spiel of this staff trying hard as well as being great at identifying talent. You earn your money by getting results. Again Mick has done a good job of winning with lesser talent but he needs to start upping the talent level.

This is a great point. We have lots of playing time to offer in 2016-17. Unless Quadri Moore really steps it up, there are anywhere between 30-40 minutes per game up for grabs at the 4 and 5 spots. If we have the kind of season next year we are expecting, combine that with all the minutes available at the 5 and the fact that it is the only position we will have a serious need at the following year (sorry, Shaq -- I think Evans and Scott will do just fine)... a big-time recruit will have an opportunity to play 30 minutes per game for a team poised to make a deep tournament run.

We just played UK and I believe we are in a tournament that we could possibly play Duke in this or next season. We also scheduled Iowa State who could be a top 5 team next year. I agree we need to be more creative, the non con schedule has improved immensely since the BE days. It appears that the AAC is not appealing to top 100 talent.
Recruits don't even know where iowa st is. We didn't schedule Kentucky part of tournament. Btw, you hear what Evans said about Ky game? schedule the big boys and big time players will come.

I think most want more than that and there isn't any reason why UC can't achieve more. Recruiting has to pick up. Mick has done a good job of being consistent and getting pretty good results with average players. Next year will be telling. It "should" be a good year but IMO it will all come down to the style of play and I have yet to see anything from Mick that says he will change his style. In fact, if I could point to one thing that is likely the biggest reason for their recruiting failures I would point to style of play. Kids don't want to play in a slow grind it out game.

Didn't we make top 10 couple seasons ago?

Plenty of top recruits don't start.

Dead on. I cautioned all the fans that were happy about how this period has gone because UC had reached out to many top recruits. We have landed no one.

Izundu might have been nice to get but who knows how he turns out in college. I doubt he will be a major program changer for Miami. No real reason to think him not signing is going to really impact our program.
