Huh? I'm not going off rankings but it seems you are. The 2010 and 2011 class was crap. JJ came from 2010 but that was it. Shaq was a top 70 recruit but he is a 4th year Junior on a very young team and can't even break the starting lineup and doesn't play much. Sanders was supposed to be the best of the class, and that might end up being true but that should show how sad of a class it was.

2012 was terrible. 2013 should be decent (I mis-referred to this class as the 2014 class in my previous post). The 5* from that class doesn't matter because he didn't pan out. 2014 was good but was loaded with juco's, however, Gary Clark brings it up a big notch.

Not to get in an argument, but just don't think the recruiting has been very good. Hopefully 2015 continues to improve on that.

Sorry; generally when people bash Cronin's recruiting they talk about rankings. If we're just talking about quality of player's he's pulled in, I think he's done well. We could certainly use a few more sharp-shooters, but otherwise.

That's all we need? Cronin gets most of his players than probably any coach in America. Just imagine if he could land top notch recruits EVERY year.

That is exactly what I think Cronin does. He's terrifec at having commited players giving their all. If he was able to pull the players that lets say, an Ohio State gets, I think he would make an extremely dominate team. I'm a huge Cronin fan tho so I may be quite biased.

His recruiting has been better the last three years IMO. Can't we just take that as a step in the right direction? I think next season will be a great year for the BB team which should help. Soon Cronin will be able to talk about an upcoming newly renovated arena as well. I see the trend of improved recruiting continuing to get better as time goes by.

The improved recruiting the past three years is a result of success. In my opinion Mick had been very smart in his recruiting adding now is pulling in more top 100-125 players. As I have said before, I think the next two years will spark a run in this program like we saw in the 90's.

Troy Caupain is still growing as a player and hasn't nearly topped out. Deberry and Ellis will be a very formidable lie post combo next season and Moore is going to be very good. Evans will be special in my opinion and I think Scott will be much better all around than people think. If Mick can land a couple shooters and a strong three I will be very very excited. Rawle would be huge!!

Steve Lavin is no longer there. Fired.

I know that. I'm referring to the fact that Steve Lavin never offered Rawle Alkins. He had to wait for Chris Mullin to get the job before getting offered by the hometown school. That's comical.

Imagine if Mick never offered Yancy Gates. Hell would've broken loose.

Scout interview: http://scouthoops.scout.com/story/1537383-adidas-gauntlet-alkins-breaks-down-list

He mentions UC as one of the schools who's making him a high priority.

Highlights from the Adidas Gauntlet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaxyQ5xZpdE

Looks like you can catch some glimpses of Mick and Savino watching from the baseline bleachers left of the basket (first see them at around the 55 second mark). Davis is standing under the basket at parts of the video, too (first appearance around the 38 second mark). Not sure about Jackson.

Alkins stats from the event: http://adidasuprising.com/adidas-grassroots-mens-events/adidas-gauntlet-series/dallas/

Edit: Apparently you can't do a direct link to his stats page. From the link above, go to the 17U page. Then, scroll down to the standings and his team, NY Rens is in Pool A. From that page, you can click on his name from their roster. His totals were 29.3 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 1.5 APG, 29.5 PER, 52.0% FG%, 37.5% from three, and 84.4% from the free throw line.

With those schools, plus UK and Duke in the mix now, this kid seems highly unlikely, but boy does he look talented. Could be a program-changer.
