is too infinity

No my argument is that just because a player has a really good year in a sup par conference doesn't mean he can do it at a so call higher level and i even used guyn as someone who did just that.

Now my argument is that this kid had offers from so called blue bloods of the sport. Which anyone who has any common sense knows it's a bunch of bs

This is the type of player we need when we constantly waste 20 seconds of the shot clock with the ball 30ft from the basket. He can create his own and has some range on his shot. Interesting prospect and certainly worth a scholly IMO.

Pretty sure that was said about Jennifer last year, cash a few years back. Even if you are correct doesnt mean cronin will use him like that.

He had 2 good years. And its really no coincidence his team was 5-26 the year before he got there.

As a freshmen he had multiple 20 point games. As a sophomore he had multiple 30 point games. The kid can score and has proven it on a consistent basis. will he score 30 with this team? no, but we arent asking him to score 30 points a game either. He is very crafty and good off the pick and roll and can get inside the lane for such a small guy.

Now are their certain parts of his game that worry me? yes. I think his ball handling needs to improve, especially for a point guard. But when you take a year off and get in the weight room for an entire year, you train a little different than if you have a game to play that week/day. In practice he would be going against TC a guy who is much bigger and much stronger than him. That can only help him prepare. He has quick feet and quick hands and he can put the ball in the basket. He wont be asked to be the only offense for our team, we are trying to find pieces to a puzzle. Do I think he is capable of being a piece? After watching some of his games on youtube, yes I do.

Especially if you think of what the core of the roster will look like when he comes in. We will have scorers in Washington/Clark/Evans/Cumberland. That right there is a very very solid core. You will have Evans as a Junior, Clark and Washington as seniors. We should have a very tough team

That's fine, coach. And you can have an opinion, just like i can. My opinion is after 10 years on the job that uc is still offering kids like this shows how bad recruiting has fallen off. If uc was rebuilding, fine roll the dice. But after 10 years uc is still rolling the dice on juco's and transfers.

I think he can be a nice piece of the puzzle too Coachpipe. Definitely worth a scholarship imo.

Westsidecat, is it possible that in the last 10 years the amount of Transfers has skyrocketed making it a very viable option to recruiting and filling holes to upgrade your roster. Just a thought.

Or is it possible that mick gets bitch slap year after year on the recruiting trail and scrambles to fill out a roster. Just a thought.

His class rankings the last 5 years support my theory.

I don't think we're scrambling for this guy. It's really early in the spring to have a guy in this position.

Like everyone else I would like to get the best of the best but I hardly think with the 6 straight tourney appearances and 20 win seasons he has got bitch slapped. Could he stand to land a few more good players, OK. Come on man! You have to be blind not to except the increase of transfers as a possibility.

You realize that Louisville was able to compete and be a top ranked team because they picked up transfers from smaller schools right? There 2 better players came from Transfers ( one from Drexel and one from Cleveland state)

It's worked well for Iowa St. I agree with you that we should use it as another way to bring in talent.

The fact of the matter is that there are so many high school players, Scout and 247 etc can't possibly rank and give stars to every single one. It's not possible. So those mid-major programs hear/ see those guys, like Broome, and offer them. The players don't get enough exposure doing the recruiting process so their best offers are from Sacred Heart.

Once there, they perform well and then the bigger programs take notice. That's really the main reason, IMO, for the NCAA rule that transfers sit out a year. Otherwise, the best mid-major players would skip after a good year and some exposure to the bigger program without any hesitation. The rule is in place to deter kids from being one-and-done in the mid-major programs. It allows the mid-majors to compete if they find that diamond in the rough type player.

Louisville has been brought up, and same Iowa State, and they both have benefitted from transfers. Hell, with Iowa State it's practically a joke. "Oh, a good mid-major is transferring? Iowa State is Transfer University" etc.

If those programs can accept transfers and win, why the hell can't we? I rather have a mid-major who can score and is college adjusted, than a fringe 4-star recruit who may take 3 years to be a big time player.

I agree as long as we are playing the 50-50 game with 3 star recruits (you win some you lose some)...I would much rather a proven commodity. That being said I would prefer getting high 4 star and 5 star HS kids. We seem to only get about 1 of those per recruiting cycle (Evans, Cumberland, Clark, etc) so I would much rather fill holes and depth with guys like Broom, Washington, or the Martin twins.

Thinks of all the 3 star guys that didn't pan out or transferred out of UC.

Oh, I definitely rather have a guy who's rated similar to Evans. Almost a McDonald's AA, 4-stars almost 5, than a transfer just about anytime. Those type of recruits aren't 50-50 if they are going to be good, probably more towards 70-30 good/bad. Jermaine Lawrence being the bad unfortunately. But, if we can consistently get those with the state of the program ( read arena, facilities, conference) then I'd take Broome over an iffy 3-star HS kid any day.

Also, on draft express the Martin twins are both ranked top 50 NBA prospects in the sophomore class. If we get Broome plus those two, I would more more than pleased.
