You are absolutely right about Cronin giving him more freedom. Mick even said himself at the Banquet that he made some stupid coaching mistakes by not playing Jenifer down the stretch.

First of all, I'm shocked to hear Mick admit that he made some stupid coaching mistakes. It was Bulldog and I out on the lonely Jenifer Island all season taking shots from everyone for our positive views of the young man. Everyone in here was abusing us relentlessly for our stance. Jenifer himself was relegated down to basically Quadri's level in here with very few even wanting to see him in the games. And now the coach admits he made a stupid mistake with him.

I'll briefly reiterate again that I didn't just see the typical incoming freshman in that preseason scrimmage last year. I've been watching UC basketball for a half century and I've seen every single incoming freshmen in that time period. Outside of Nick Van Exel and a few others, I don't recall having as high of a first impression with an incoming player as I had with Jenifer. For the first six games or so, if this team had 10 highlight reel moments, Jenifer had 8 or 9 of them. And then Mick shut him down. The creativity disappeared. It was like taking a brightly lit room, and turning the lights down low with a dimmer switch. In the last half of the season, he had zero resemblance of the player I saw early in the season. His leash was far shorter than others on the team. who were missing far more shots, playing poor defense in some cases and having a huge part of why we were under-achieving. But, the difference is, they got to play through their mistakes, and as a result, gained confidence and improved later in the season. Jenifer was not afforded the same opportunity, and consequently lost confidence and all resemblance of what he was when he arrived on campus. I thought all season long that Mick made a huge mistake with him. I'm glad he himself sees the same thing now.

Hmmm, pretty sure Creighton said no thanks after they got word of joseph comming in but i wont rain on this big get for mick.

Love having a shoot first, pass second, turnover machine point guard. Fits right in with mick's offensive game plan. Just throw it up and hope for a rebound.

Just when i didn't think recruiting could be any more of a joke, mick shows me it can.

Ill counter with. I think it was the other way around. Broome was their first priority and Joseph was their backup. And you have a really nice opinion on a guy youve never seen play. Youre reading off stats while completely ignoring the fact he was the only person on their team while playing 38 minutes. When you have the ball in your hands at a higher rate than SK did his senior year and dont have a supporting cast, your numbers will take hits. Ill hold my opinions for when we actually see him play

But the fact he is a smaller guard and 44% of his shots were taken at the rim converting 57% id say hes exactly what this team needs. A wiry PG that can get to the rim and finish at the rim. Pieces to the puzzle.

When you avg close to 20 shots a game dropping 16 is not a big deal.

Cane Broome single handedly puts out an apartment fire and saves 30 people.

Westsidecat: "Well, the hydrant and hose were right there. I'm sure those people would've made it out without him. He probably impeded their escape by making the floors slippery."

You want me to belive Creighton wanted broome over joseph? Not a chance in hell.

And stats tell the story of a player. High volume shooter who coughs it up on the regular. Not want i want from a pg.

But man, yes Jenifer looked awesome early against bad teams. But in Conference play, he always seem to make bone headed plays that deserved being benched over. I know of at least 2 maybe 3 times this year where he got beat on defense and then fouled a 3 point shooter.

In theory, we should have played him more but He only looked good against lesser teams.

I mean, do you really think Jenifer looked amazing in practice and Mick still didn't play him much? No way. Im betting he made freshman mistakes in practice and Cronin didnt feel comfortable playing him against good defense and better teams. Evans on the other hand, started slow but Im guessing that he looked really good in practice and Cronin knew it would at some point translate to games.

Its not like Mick doesn't play freshman. He played Evans a ton and clark a lot his freshman year, but he only plays the ones that he is comfortable with and Jenifer just so happened to have our leading scorer and most clutch player in front of him

He also had five turnovers picking up the water hose.

Until you can prove it, Ill stick with what I know. Broome visited UC, made his decision and still went on the other visit he had planned. Same thing Brooks did, same thing Clark did. If Broome was Creightons 2nd pick and Joseph was their first, wouldnt it make sense to wait until after Joseph decided before bringing broome in and him possibly committing? because if broome committed to Creighton Sunday night instead of UC, no way joseph goes their too

But hey, Joseph was a 4 star recruit out of high school and Broome wasnt. So you have to be right. Who wants unrated scrubs anyway

Clearly Westsidecat does not understand the fact that Sacred Heart was awful and Broome was their only good offensive option. Broome had a higher usage % than SK's senior year, but I am assuming westside doesn't understand that, so it's natural for his stats to be worse. Having the ball in his hands the majority of the game will lead to more TOs and shots. If his usage % drops to about 23% when playing for the Cats, his TO% will go down, while his shooting % will go up. But, go ahead and ignore those stats even though you said "stats tell the story of a player."

You are stuck on this. When there are and could be many explanations, you just continue to ignore them and write him off as a no name recruit who shoots too much. Your evaluations of UC recruits is predictable. What was he ranked? oh he wasnt? he sucks he wont help us at all.

Ok man. Belive what you want. Common sense clearly shows who the better player is, but most schools alawys want the 2nd best option, right?

Here the best best name drop for broome. Jermiah davis. Lucky for broome he has a chance to prove me wrong. And i'll be the first to say so.

But he wont.

common sense? Well if we are using common sense, by all means.

Common sense says whoever rated Steph Curry and Russel Westbrook out of high school were complete morons. Common sense would say that Cheick Diallo would have been a productive piece to Kansas this year. Same goes for Derryck Thornton at Duke. Jacob Evans was the 128th ranked Senior in HS last year. Was he the 128th ranked freshmen this year? Not to mention, Joseph couldnt even get playing time, but your right, he must be better and creightons #1 option because he was ranked higher out of HS.

Your "common sense" is based solely on how some guys rank some kids.

No common sense says you take joseph over broome all day, everyday.

Coachpipe, just put Westside on your ignore list and move on. Trust me, from experience, it's a lot better.

based on their HS rank for 2 years ago? Thats not common sense

No lol. You seem to be the one caught up in rankings.

You have a player with very high upside who played at the highest level of college basketball. Then you have a player who beast out against the lowest level of college basketball while racking up numbers buy avg close to 20 shots a game. Who would you take?

Im sure joseph numbers would be off the chart if he played at that level for two years.

Yea, so sorry. I'll try and homer it up better for you. Broome number will be on the wall after he destroys college basketball for two years.

Better?

Hmmm. Weird that common sense doesnt put Joseph on this list.

Stupid article, does this guy realize he has players from Robert Morris, Tulane, Delaware, Arkansas State and Charleston on this list? Ahead of guys from P5 schools or started at a P5 school(Johnson) What an idiot

Wait, now you are using rankings. Can't have it both ways, holmes.

Anyway that website looks like a high school senior class progect.
