Dillard High (FL) forward RaiQuan Gray a member of the 2017 class received an offer from the Cincinnati Bearcats. Gray is a versatile forward that reminds some of Draymond Green because of his size and skill. Bearcat Insider was able to talk to Gray after he received his offer from the Bearcats.

RaiQuan Gray speaks on receiving Bearcats offer.
“It was real cool, they had been in touch with me since Monday evening,” said Gray. “They had reached out to my mom and then I found out that Coach Cronin and the Bearcats offered me. I told them thank you and they just let me know they like how I’ve worked and improved on my game and how I carry myself on the court and off the court. It was right nice because the offer came out of the blue.”
Per Gray the Bearcats staff was at all four of his games for the Under Armour Camp in Indianapolis over the weekend.
Gray talks about the teams that have offered him.
“Cincinnati, Illinois, Ole Miss, Rutgers, Auburn and a few others that I can’t think of off top of my head,” said Gray.
Gray also plans to set up a visit come fall, but currently nothing is set in stone.
Gray talks about some of the players he models his game after.
“When I talk to coaches they say Draymond Green, but I take a lot of stuff from Carmelo Anthony, I like his game a lot,” said Gray.
Gray plans on going to the All-American and Top 100 camp, but hopes he’s invited to the Adidas camp also.
Gray also speaks on which past Bearcat player he liked watching a lot.
“The guy I liked watching the most was Sean Kilpatrick, he’s nice,” said Gray.

Saw he was Crystal-balled to Baylor. I know their recent issues are football related, but you'd think that has to have an impact on everything involving the university, no? I know I wouldn't go anywhere near that place. It's toxic. Always has been.

I'm just going to say this and I know it might not come off well. But if he wants to model his game after Carmelo Anthony, that's not going to fit with what Mick wants.

Exactly what I thought. But, I won't complain if he somehow comes here and does what Melo did in college :D

I know UC offered but this kid has blown up. I doubt the interest is mutual. He's not an underrated guy from a small school or a JUCO so there is no chance we'd land him.

Why not? Mick don't like his players to model their game from hall of famers?

Hall of famer? Because that means what anymore? I'm sorry but the notion that being a hall of famer makes you a great ball player is played out and simply isn't accurate anymore. Watch out Melo fans this is gonna hurt: Carmelo is nothing more than a glorified scorer who does nothing else productive in the course of a game. Let's not forget who was also on that Syracuse team when they won the title. Granted he played well, but he certainly wasn't alone. My simple point is that type of player doesn't fit what Mick Cronin wants.

Out of all can't miss prospects he bout only one win ncaa championship. You had zero real nba talent outside of melo and he stayed home to get it done. I'll take glorified scoring any day of week in this team. 6'8 240 sf I'll come out my own pockets for. Mick can defense with the best of them

Hakeem Warrick?

Gerry McNamara, Keith Duany (1,000 point career scorer) and Jeremy McNeil who shot 75% from the field. Carmelo was and always has been a selfish player which is something Mick, no matter the talent, will never tolerate.

That supporting cast wasn't anything special. Warrick was awesome. I'll give you that. McNamara was good too, but a FR. Duany was a fine college player I guess. Who the F is Jeremy McNeil? Sports Reference says he averaged 3 points per game and I've never heard of him. I believe Craig Forth was the starting C. That championship was all Carmelo. Let's not rewrite history here. He was a great player (Carmelo has always been a great player on Team USA too).

So back to Gray...you mean to tell me that if Coach Cronin was told that this kid could be like Carmelo, he'd pass on him? If that was true, he should be fired immediately.

This would explain out tournament and recruiting success under mick. Better to pocket those schollies than fill them with "selfish" players....selfish like all-American NCAA tournament winning players.

We are not getting this kid so none of this really matters anyway

exactly! probably weakest group of players along with villinova to win championship in long time. melo goes down as top 30 ever to play basketball

Where was it reported that Cronin wouldn't take him? What's the source? Bulldog! LMAO!!!!

If you guys want to talk about players we might actually get here talk about
Joseph Lanzi
Trevor moore
Anthony Gaines

so gray is a no go? i dont think so coming into '17, clark broome and evans should at least be top 50 in college add in washington, cumberland, jj and brooks who i think is go be stud down low all is missing is couple pieces. might be micks best chance ever to sell championship aspirations to a couple one and doners in this class. pay what we saving pocketing scholarships every year for 2-3 top 75 players in country. UA is moving up and that will be year we might possibly be moving into B12 then next year after moving into 100mil arena. We need at least 2 top 75 players next year and throw in the best player locally we can get. Cant promote brand spanking new arena with ZERO local players on roster outside of cumberland.
