I hope I am wrong.

But I have a feeling this kid is going to be completely ineffective and terrible as a basketball player at the college level. Kelvin Gaines, David Nyarsuk, Biggie Mclain, Cheik Mbodj, Jamaree Strickland, Steve Toyloy,... You get the point.

After the hours of film you have watched you came to that conclusion?

No video needed. We all know how these projects turn out. Hell, Nsoseme didn't play with shoes, a net, or inside until 18 months ago! And u want him to waltz into high level D1 basketball and expect him to have an impact? Hate wasting these schollys on these projects who literally have played more soccer in their life than basketball. This isnt the Air Up There starring Kevin Bacon my friends

That's weird...you usually have such a rosy outlook towards the program.

The Air Up There is a PHENOMENAL film.

If we're using 12-13 scholarships ships every year, I personally have no problem at all getting a couple guys like this.

Not saying this kid will or won't be good but I'd rather fill my roster out with a fundamentally sound player than a project athlete.

I understand your point but I kind of agree with Jacob here. We don't need all of our bigs to be great on offense. If they are tall, can rebound, block shots, and get put backs...they can be useful.

That being said we will need some offense when Washington and Clark are gone. We can focus on that now that we have the offensively challenged variety...lol!

Not saying they are at all equal caliber players, but Joel Embiid didn't play basketball until 2 years before he got to Kansas. Might want to give the kid a chance before saying he won't be any good.

Mbodj should not be lumped in with the rest here. Sure, he didn't shine on offense all that much, but he was a top-notch defender. His senior year, per 40 minutes, he averaged 8.9 rebounds and 5.0 (!!) blocks. All against Big East big men. He didn't turn the ball over much either, and also shot 68% from the line, which isn't bad for a big man.

I always thought Mbodj was very underappreciated. I'd be just fine with Nsosme ending up like him. Maybe not the guy you want to give 30 minutes to, but a very serviceable 2nd stringer.

Saleh Nsoseme! I agree completely. If this guy was at the end of the bench for depth purposes this year, who cares? We rarely use all available schollys any ways. I totally get what you're saying with the other "project" type players we've seen come through here, but I'd give him a chance first.

After watching 2 of his games at North Pole Hoops you can see some potential is there. He is fast down the floor- seems to be very vocal and intense-and made some good passes. probably 6ft 8 but has better wingspan. The downside needs strength training and lots of offensive work but the kid seems smart (4 lang.) that when you think about the no shoes or nets thing it's all upside.

Well, rebounding and blocking shots are as much about being fundamental as anything so I agree. My point wasn't as much specifically this kid as it was just some of the recruits we've had that were projects coming in. I guess my point is more if I'm filling out a roster I'd rather have somebody who can play his role and not hurt us rather than somebody who's only talent is athleticism.

This kid as far as I've heard is supposed to be a rim protector and a complete project on offense. We've had enough of that to see its frustrating at best. I hate having a big that can't finish from 2 feet. It completely kills your ability to run offense. And going after blocks takes you out of position to rebound, so it can be a double edged sword.

I was just thinking-if where he was playing hoops they didn't wear shoes -have a gym or nets how much coaching could the kid have got. He just won MVP in a high school tournament. There can't be many diamonds that are rougher than him.

He's an obvious red shirt candidate with our entire front court and reserves coming back. I love what I've heard about him so far. Stuffs the stat sheet. If you cant land a top 50 big which is really hard to do simply because there arent many of them out there then you have to find potential and try to cultivate it. Perfect situation for him at UC where he can spend a year transforming his body and getting the individual instruction he desperately needs. UC doesnt need him to make an impact for at least 3 years with the way the roster is set up.

Not sure if this has been posted yet but this was uploaded a couple days ago....

Also these were his stats from one of the games in that tournament...
