Lots of people are overlooking a few things when commenting on our recruiting.

1. This team has some very nice returning young players. Mick has gotten this program stabilized by bringing in young talented kids with more potential then ready on hand talent. You haven't seen many one and doners. This team is know different. TC,JL,KJ,ST and Mormon are all players very capable of taking big leaps in production next year. Those guys have only scratched the surface on their abilities.

2. We will have much more depth at the 4 and 5 then we have had since Mick has been here. We have two legitimate bodied 5's that will compete for PT and push one another.

3. We also have a group of 3 players that can play the 4. JL,Clark and Moore.
This group also provides versatility as Moore could play the 5 and Clark could see more time as a 3 depending how he shows up on campus physically.

4. The wings should be manned very well with Sanders,Thomas,KJ,Mormon and potentially Clark.

5. PG will have a up and coming young player who saw major minutes in TC backed up by a veteran in GG who also has experience.

As far as recruiting I think Mick is being very selective in who he presents offers too.Lots of moving pieces out there right now. We have a lot of talented players returning who won't be easy to dislodge. Probably why guys aren't lined up to commit, knowing playing time will be a battle. They are also waiting to see who declares for the draft. I would be very very surprised if Mick uses both scholly's this year. If he does I think one will be on a one or two year player who can help immediately. If he can't find that he'll pocket the schooly. Of course he won't turn down a four year guy with big upside or some one who can come in and make a big impact immediately. Of course those are very hard to find. To make a long story short while having a Big name Coach,1st class facilities and a favorable TV schedule are major factors in recruiting top talent, being able to find minutes without much difficulty is a huge factor in getting kids to commit. Right now the Cats are set up that who ever comes in will have to be very good to get those minutes.Lots of the Juco's are seeking schools were they can walk in immediately and play. Unless that player is very good he won't do that with this group. He'll have to earn his time on this team. It is also complicated by the fact this is a young team. The guys who will be leaving after next year are probably all going to be reserves. Let's be patient guys. If Mick signs no one I still like this group.

I agree with you and am excited about the group we have. I don't remember Mick having low post depth like this since he's been the head coach. The Cat's will be counting on some big contributions on some young players playing more minutes and players new to the program. There will be some maddening moments along the way but they should get better as the year goes on.

Hey you guys need to check out that link I posted a couple days ago about the Memphis board saying Martin has committed to UC and transfer because I guess one of the member of 247 wrote the guy saying us UC fans haven't heard Martin transferred here and the guy said that he read it in a article or something 4 or 5 days ago but go check it out and let me know if you think it's true.

I found The article he is talking about it is on commerical appeal website but you have to pay to read it but atleast he was telling the truth, this could be true just not announced yet.

I do not believe he can officially talk to any schools until after this semester ends and he graduates. I do not quite get how a random Memphis newspaper has the inside scoop but stranger things have happened in recruiting.

I didn't think so either but since the two schools are so close we (UC) might be sneaking to see him lol
I guess Memphis was trying to talk to him about going there and he told Memphis he was coming to UC but again I have no idea if this is true or not.

Moore is not a 4 at this time. He is too slow to guard that position. That could change if his quickness and agility improve significantly while at UC, but he will not be a 4 next year.

Michigan State previously signed one of Clark's teammates, guard Lourawls Nairn, and forward Javon Bess in November. Clark and Nairn attend Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas. The 5-10 Nairn -- whose nickname is "Tum Tum" -- is from the Bahamas. The 6-foot-5 Bess went to Gahanna Lincoln High School in Ohio. Where is Lincoln high? Never heard of him.

Gahanna Lincoln is a D-1 high school in Gahanna, an east-side suburb of Columbus. They play in a tough conference with pretty much all D-1 schools, similar to the GMC in Cincinnati.

Byron Wesley ‏@byron_wesley 16h
I would like to announce that I have decided to graduate from USC this summer and transfer for my final year of college basketball.

Wesley, 6' 5'' 210lbs guard averaged 17.8 points and 6.4 rebounds. He definitely fits the bill as a grad transfer that can come in and score!!

Where he from? Why not go pro?

He is from Rancho Cucamonga, CA. We have never been involved, but can never hurt to give a call saying you have PT available. Seems alot of kids go the 5th year route. DeAndre Kane had no shot of being drafted last year, and now I think he was one of the better PGs in the league. I dont know his draft status, but going into a new environment could help you make the next step if the system you were playing in didnt fit your style, you want to surround yourself with better talent, or you are just tired of where you are.

I know we have been mentioned for Martin and he will be a 5th year guy too. I dont know how good Wesley is but it looks like he knows how to score. Maybe he isnt good enough to get drafted, but that doesnt mean he isnt good enough to help another team. And you never know, maybe he has no intentions to go over seas to play basketball and just wants to give his last year of playing 1 more ride and a tourny run

The more I think about it...the Memphis board mentioned Justin Martin to UC 4 or 5 days ago...then 3 days ago it was announced Torian Graham would visit Houston. Even if we cant talk to Martin, could he have come to us and let us know he was interested? I mean he is in the same city and knows a lot of our players.
