Haywood might be a beast who knows all I am saying is nobody has seen him play but all these people keep saying we need him like he is this superstar they have seen play. I will stick with the guy I have seen play and proved he can play with high division 1 athletes Eron Harris as my #1 guy that is available. I'm intrigued by Lyrik Shriener having the record for points scored 65 in a game and most assists in a game in the state of Arizona. Wish there was video on him somewhere would be nice to get a glimpse of the type of player he is. Elijah Stewart looks like he can play. I really hope we are involved in the Wilbikin kid from the video I saw he can play and if he is anything like his brother or cousin as a player I take him in a heartbeat.

The question was who is the guy we want that we are recruiting, we are not recruiting Harris right now.

Haywood played for Jacksonville if you think that is high caliber D1 experience your crazy. Also he isn't even available next year so that doesn't help us one bit with our experience problem for next year. And we aren't after Harris right now and neither is anyone else bc they can't be just like Martin can't be talked too. To say he is going to end up at Butler is crazy what are you basing that off of bc fans keep tweeting they hope he comes there???

It has been said on different sites Harris will probably end up at Butler or Purdue. And idc if a player played for Jacksonville he still has D1 experience, also this year we will get 2 players it don't matter if Haywood has to sit out that will make him that much better for the next year we have to many players and not enough minutes. IMO Haywood is better than Sheriner, Stewart. Also the only 5th year transfer we might get is Martin so your experience problem is already doomed for next year. I know we can't talk to Harris that's why I said we aren't after him RIGHT NOW.

Ok "Technically" your right but thats pretty annoying. Anyone in a few hour drive of Indy will be after Harris including us. If you don't think that we are involved there is really nothing more to say to you. There is no way Mick doesn't try to go after a 17 ppg guy who played against high D1 competition who is looking to play close to home and is a hour 45 min drive from home.

Also your so high on Haywood they went 12-18 this year played nobody. Lost to UCF by 40. Great he was their high scorer obviously it wasn't working out for them. To me he is a coin flip. To me not sure he is what we need.

I was just telling you that we aren't recruiting Harris right now and his question was who do we want we are after.
He can't win by himself he needs help that's why he is transferring he wants to go to the ncaa tourney.

Idk that might be the case or it might be that he is on a terrible team and takes a bunch of shots. Like I said he is a coin flip to me. I'd rather have 2 guys that can play this year.

Good convo man no hard feelings just two different opinions on two different players.
For sure man definitely no hard feelings and good convo I wish I would of been able to see him play this year. I just get nervous not being able to see film on a player before getting them. I feel like at least seeing some recent highlights of a player gives you a little understanding of the type of player they are and what not. It has me uneasy that the last film on him is from hs and he is going to be a junior in college now and with Shriener he has no film. Just makes me uneasy lol

Deondre cane transferred from Marshall and look how that worked out. Jacksonville is division 1 basketball playing division 1 competition and 17 pts a game against that competition is saying something. Good players exist at small schools

I get that but they went 12-18. I've seen a lot of teams that are terrible that have a great scorer on the team because when you are terrible there is no pressure nobody cares if you take a million shots or what shots you take ect. Like I said before he could end up being great with us could end up doing nothing. You can say that with anyone that is a prospect I just would feel better seeing him play a game or 2 this year or at least see some tape on his game. Hell you could put some of out non factor guys on our team on a team that is awful and they might be considered a superstar bc of the situation they are in. I just tend to be a little more reserved about players especially when I haven't seen them play or video of their game in the past couple years. I do agree there are diamonds in the rough and talent at some small schools so who knows.

against florida st. 15pts/wake 19pts/florida16pts -shot above 50%

Yep and someone mentioned Jacksonville losing by 40 to UCF...too bad Haywood didn't play that game. Fact is, we don't just hand out scholarships. If our coaches like him, then I can live without seeing a recent 3 minute highlight video.

its hard scoring with bums around you. We have better talent on our team than Jacksonville so he should actually be better with us. I'll take him in heartbeat. Put him with TC as a junior and that's two pretty tough high IQ PG for us.

TC, Mormon, Shaq, Sanders, and Kj didn't avg 17ppg COMBINED. And I bet the house none of those guys could avg 17 at ANY D1 school.

Mormon of course didn't play last year, but your last point is probably true. A couple of those players could hopefully develop into 15-17ppg players by their senior year, but that's still to be seen.

It's safe to say, If you're averaging 17 a game at the D1 level you are obviously doing something right. I would love to land Haywood.

Haywood shot 51% (41% on three's) on 11 shot attempts a game. That is about as efficient as you can expect from a shooting guard.

There are plenty of examples of players from low to mid major's transferring to major programs and having an impact. You have Seth Curry (from Liberty to Duke), Luke Hancock (from George Mason to Louisville) and DeAndre Kane (from Marshall to Iowa State).

Nailed it. That's why I really want the kid. The convo has generally been about PPG, but look how efficient he is. Against real competition too. You can't be unimpressed by that.

I understand preferring Eron Harris over him, but there have been zero signs of us having even a decent shot at him. Haywood has a visit with us this weekend, and I haven't heard about him visiting anyone else. You can dream about getting whoever you want, but I'm trying to keep it realistic, and it seems we've got a great shot with Haywood, and I'm excited about it.

I have seen Haywood play a couple of times. While the level of competition was suspect, he would be a very good addition. He can really hit his shots!

While he needs to clean up the turnovers and improve defensively, Haywood is exactly what we are looking for in terms of an efficient scorer, as NTS noted. He would have led last year's team in True Shooting % (.603) and Effective Field Goal % (.565). He'd be a welcomed addition.

I think Haywood can be a very nice player for us, especially with a transfer year to practice against high-major competition on a daily basis and learn Mick's brand of defense. Efficient back court scorers are a rarity in college basketball.
