I def believe we had interest in Martin and he did us but I don't believe he was a top target. After other players committed to other schools I think he moved up our list but when Ellis and Cobb committed to us I think Martins chances might have ended.

i understand your thinking there, and we were after a 5th year senior, but in my own opinion i truly do not believe we had any interest. But this is my opinion vs yours, either way i think we can agree he is not coming here

Agreed
But I do believe Chad and the one had both said a couple days ago we had mutual interest with Martin in the beginning.

Cincinnati is not one of the teams pursuing Andrew White per Zags so I would say the 2014 class is done and we are moving on to 2015 with 3 open scollys.

It would be awesome to get him. We need a true scorer.

Looking purely at the stats and his shooting percentages are quite low from the field and from three. Perhaps it had to do with the team around him though. It is a pretty low risk move since he'd only be here from 1 year.

For sure. I bet his % is low bc like you said, he did not have any supporting cast. We could def use someone who knows how to score lol

His overall fg % is 2% higher than SK's was.

What I don't like are the 51 assists compared with 91 turnovers

WVU TR (11.7 PPG) @m_shockley G Terry Henderson cut list to Cinn, NC State, Richmond, Rutgers, MD, UCLA, Wake -will cut it to 4 Sat

If you get a chance to grab a guy for one year who averaged 25.6 ppg and still have 3 open scholarships next season, you take it -- period. Assuming he can play defense, he almost definitely would be our leading scorer next season. His team was horrid, but the Metro Atlantic is a respectable mid-major conference.

His Rivals page out of HS says he was recruited by NC State, Maryland, Richmond, and Wake Forest...only Maryland and Richmond offered him a scholarship though. Not sure if that makes a difference or not. It'll be interesting to see if we land in the top 4. He hit 89 3s at 38.7% his first 2 years at West Va, and 81.6% FT. Id love to get him.

I agree. At this point, the one year player to me is more preferable. I'd rather have that scholarship to use in 2015.

I know this interview is old but it funny to hear him say he spent the whole off season with his dad bc I also saw these on twitter.

Antoine Mason had his dad call to say he wasn't coming back to Niagara http://t.co/69pE92WPRR

@siennasoup
For all the schools on Antoine Mason's mule - good luck dealing with his father.

Of course his dad is...Anthony Mason...

UNLV starting PG Deville Smith (LINK) is another potential 5th year transfer that is leaving the Rebels. He averaged 9.7 points, 2.7 assists and shot 34% from three.

Hes a great player that wants a chance at a NCAA run. Niagara isnt that team. So I dont see it being much of a problem. And once he commits somewhere he only has a year left, so I dont see him or his dad saying or doing anything that would hurt the last year of eligibility he has .

I agree. Worth the risk for sure. Even if his dad gets involved, it's only one year. Shouldn't be an issue. I'd like to have him.
