2014 Spring Recruiting

We've had Jucos and 5th yr prep players and not to mention EVERY year one of our recruits are ineligible. Sorry to say it our players might not be CRIMINALS but they WITHOUT A DOUBT HAVE CHARACTER ISSUES!! Their teens all of them have issues.

Shaq Thomas and Jamaree Strickland have been the only 2 players ineligible and neither was at fault. So thats simply not true to state our players have character issues at all

Huh? First off, just because a player went the JUCO or prep school route doesn't mean they have character issues. Some do, some don't. I don't think any of our recent JUCOs or prep guys have had character issues at all.

Since 2007, by my count we've had four players who weren't eligible as freshmen (Strickland, Shaq, Jason Henry, John Riek). It's hard to even count the last two considering Mick was just trying to build a roster. Strickland's case was also really screwy.

I'm pretty sure #bearcatnation's comments about x recruiting johnson were in jest. The level of scrutiny it's receiving probably isn't needed.

Any updated projections on who the Cat's might land for the rest of the 2014 class?

I would totally hate if Cronin went out and got another 5th year prep like Sean Kilpatrick, or a JUCO like Titus Tubles. Both had so many character issues.

Ok, everyone, I think Bulldog has been correctly put in his place. I don't want this to become a pissing match so, let's please get back on topic.

Also, and this is to everyone, please stop throwing accusations out regarding any recruits anywhere being criminals. Unless you can provide an arrest AND conviction, lay off the defamation. Enough said.

Looks like Haywood will be in this weekend.
I'm excited about the possibility of Elijah Stewart...not sure what his timetable is though on any visits/announcements.
Still waiting on any kind of update on Shreiner as far as a visit is concerned. Maybe we're waiting to hear from Haywood first?

Exactly right. I was just hoping for a chuckle (since it was mostly a joke), and for people to move on. That's literally it. Sheesh.....

I hope Haywood's visit goes well. Has anyone heard when he's thinking of committing? Does he have a visit scheduled after UC? I've considering tweeting these questions at him, but I don't want to get overly involved. Plus he'd probably just ignore them.

If you guys could chose one of the guards we are recruiting right now for the 2014 class who would it be?

I thought it was fine, just a little joke aimed at the crosstown rivals. People have no sense of humor anymore, PC has taken over. Oh well, let's just worry about who we are recruiting and hope for the best. I want Haywood since he has experience, even if it was at Jacksonville. Heck, Luke Hancock came from George Mason and he turned out to be a nice player for U of L. Not saying Haywood will be that good, but just because he comes from a smaller school doesn't necessarily mean he isn't good. Let's hope we land him and he turns into a nice contributor for us.

We are not recruiting Harris right now but IMO we need Haywood.
Your crazy if you don't think we are going after Eron Harris. He is a very high level player who has proven himself in a power conference that wants to be closer to home (Indiana). Less than a 2 hour drive. And you keep bringing up Haywood but none of us have ever seen the kid play what makes you think we need him so bad? Just curious why you think he is so special. Most i've seen on him was hs highlights that constantly say he isnt the fastest strongest or jumps the highest ect...

I think my favorite thing about Haywood is that they say he isn't the most athletic and doesn't jump the highest or run the fastest. We have had enough players with those credentials that don't end up being huge impact players from a pure basketball sense (see Guyn's 45" vertical). 16 ppg as an underclassman in D-1 with his shooting %s gives me a lot of hope for him (especially since he'd have a year to sit out and adjust to the speed/game of our players).

Sounds like another Sanders no thanks

Sanders is 30-40 pounds heavier than Haywood

Also, might be time to open a 2017 thread...we offered 2017 6'0" PG Matt Coleman from Norfolk, VA today
Haywood might be a beast who knows all I am saying is nobody has seen him play but all these people keep saying we need him like he is this superstar they have seen play. I will stick with the guy I have seen play and proved he can play with high division 1 athletes Eron Harris as my #1 guy that is available. I'm intrigued by Lyrik Shriener having the record for points scored 65 in a game and most assists in a game in the state of Arizona. Wish there was video on him somewhere would be nice to get a glimpse of the type of player he is. Elijah Stewart looks like he can play. I really hope we are involved in the Wilbikin kid from the video I saw he can play and if he is anything like his brother or cousin as a player I take him in a heartbeat.

We need Haywood because he has D1 experience we need scorers and Haywood is the best scorer we are after. As far as Harris he is probably going to end up at Butler, and we aren't after him RIGHT NOW.

Haywood played for Jacksonville if you think that is high caliber D1 experience your crazy. Also he isn't even available next year so that doesn't help us one bit with our experience problem for next year. And we aren't after Harris right now and neither is anyone else bc they can't be just like Martin can't be talked too. To say he is going to end up at Butler is crazy what are you basing that off of bc fans keep tweeting they hope he comes there???
