Sounds promising, although I don't really take N. Ky high school sports too seriously.

Since you and Mick are pals do me a favor and ask him how it feels to make significantly more money than Mack and Miller while being a far inferior coach. Does it keep him up at night? Does he ever fear it will catch up to him or is he just smiling all the way to the bank?

I know your talking about basketball, but Highlands High School Football has the second most wins in the Nation, FYI.

No, I was talking about all sports. Put Highlands in the GCL and they'd finish last every season. Being the best HS football team in KY is like being the tallest midget in OZ.

Highlands has beat ST X has beat Elder, Highlands is a public school which doesnt have the advantage of Picking from a 1000 boys to form a football team. ANd i didnt say the best team in KY i said one of the top winning schools in the NATION! Finish last every year is a joke of statement almost as much as your midget joke.

Highlands won the Kentucky state championship in 2012 and 2014. Very impressive. Both of those years they lost to Elder, who was not the best team in the GCL either of those years.

Was that when they won like 5 straight titles. almost every time they play GCL teams they put up a pretty good game. the GCL is one of the elite high school systems in the country not denying that. Just don't belittle a dominant Kentucky program. Now back to BBall

Highlands cant hang with the gcl at all these days. I believe st.x scrimmaged them and absolutley blasted them this last season

Lots of good meaningful games to be played. Hope the Cats are up to the challenge. Like to see some more consistency out of our team.

a key will be how many Minutes will Ellis be able to give us without getting into early foul trouble. he can not pick up cheap fouls. The double fouls have to stop with him. When he gets 2 fouls 6-7 minutes into the game it plays heck with our rotation.

Definitely agree with you Waite but I wouldn't mind Deberry seeing more minutes. Maybe not because Ellis is in foul trouble, but DeBerry's offensive game has vastly improved IMO.

DeBerry has been a little better lately. Not sure I agree that he's much improved from last year offensively though.

DeBerry can be good in spurts and depending on the match up. Having the flexibility to use him as the situations call for as opposed to being forced into a substitution is what I am looking for. Ellis needs to get his head out of his rear end. To many fouls away from the ball because he is tangled up with the opposition. Can't give away fouls. I watch a lot of basketball and he is by far the biggest culprit of this I have seen this year. He always seems to have a issue. just play the game.

For me, I just see DeBerry as the better post up offensive talent. Ellis gets his points from rebound and put backs. Ellis catching the ball on the block usually ends in a walk. But agreed, Ellis' foul trouble needs to be cleaned up. His shot blocking, along with Clark's shot blocking ability of late, is something we can't afford to have on the bench.

I like Deberry but I think he needs to get meaner down low especially on defense. People back him down and shoot over him all the time I feel like.

He's not a good defender (Deberry). I've seen worse though. He is definitely better offensively in the post than Ellis but Ellis offers a lot more flexibility on D and running the court. We need Ellis for the most part...obviously it's also situational where DeBerry might be more useful at times.

That's what so perplexing about deberry , he can dunk so hard that it brings the crowd to raging roar then the next game be a complete defensive liability while missing two foot bunnies

It looks like the regular season scoring title is going to belong to Troy. Ellis would have to average close to 20 pts per game over the last 5 to catch up. Clark and Cobb would need to be around 15/gm to be at Troy's current 11.5/gm.

They are all averaging double figures and within 1.5 pts/gm of each other. Those were the 4 prominent names that came up at the beginning of the year. The way Gary is playing he could overtake Troy after some tourney play but averaging 15 over 5 games won't be easy although he's been real close to that the last 5 or 6 games games (14.5).

Of course this assumes Troy stays at his current average and not above it which is also a possibility if not even likely.

Anyone Else feel that Ellis is starting to feel that his Senior year is almost over and is now more focused than he has been all year??

I was a bit underwelmed with Ellis to start the season but as time as went on, he has really start to show that he cares and is giving the energy that we saw at the end of last year. With Clark drawing so much attention, we need him to be ready to score (and not dribble).

I really think our season kind of swings in the balance with this Tulsa game and we need Everyone to contribute. Really hoping to have Shaq back as well to deepen the bench

IDK, he has been hustling more but I don't know about paying more attention. He gets a 3 second call every game, he plays soft inside and gets ball knocked out of his hands easily and he has made some terrible passes. If he really asserted himself he could have had 25/15 vs ECU. He has 6 double digit rebounding games all season, the last two games then you have to go back 4 weeks to Jan. 13 for the next one.
