IDK, he has been hustling more but I don't know about paying more attention. He gets a 3 second call every game, he plays soft inside and gets ball knocked out of his hands easily and he has made some terrible passes. If he really asserted himself he could have had 25/15 vs ECU. He has 6 double digit rebounding games all season, the last two games then you have to go back 4 weeks to Jan. 13 for the next one.

Agreed. He is so weak with the ball. Every time he touched it last game, ECU collapsed two guys on him and he fumbled the ball more times than not. Just crazy.

Im still on board with coach but that's the thing with Mick that sometimes bothers me you don't have to constantly yell at your guys, it makes them play tight at times maybe overthink things. We have an experienced team and is later in the season talk to your players calmly reason with them ask them what they are seeing, troy should be having an open talk with mick occasionally telling him what he wants to run from what hes seeing, let the players have some freedom in the huddle because know matter how good of a coach you are sometimes things are just seen differently out there. If someone turns it over they know it was a bad play they didn't try to turn the ball over if its just a first time thing tell him its fine keep his confidence (bad defense and rebounding is where he should yell). Also show some joy when a good play is made tell him that congratulate and stuff smile from time to time, I swear sometimes a guy will make a great play right before a time out and mick doesn't even look at the guy
Thanks Rob and Jack Bauer. Nice posts. Rob, I must say the team I hate across town seem to be having fun and the coach allows them to make mistakes, play freely/ loose. The entbusausm is there. I am going to watch closely. I sure hope he gets excited with them. I have seen him pat guys on the back.

Wonder does Mick talks to PG in practice while he brings ball u court. Never seen a coach in basketball call play from sideline every possession. It can be opening tip off and our PG still has to look over at Mick for instructions

Shit are game at Houston is their senior night

That game scares me. They shoot a lot of 3s and that could be dangerous if they are open. ECU can still be tough, definitely cant let them get on a run. And then that SMU game, although our senior night still scares me. That is SMUs last game as a team. hopefully they fight with eachother the whole game, blame coach brown and quit playing after 2 minutes in...but I doubt it

Damn I did not realize that it was senior night for them.

We are the better team but worse teams play better on Senior night. The crowd was not existent against Temple last night but I would imagine its a lot more for there senior night.

If i have to choose though between which team and which circumstance which we take an L from if we had it, its @houston. We need SMU for that top 25 RPI win.

There were a few plays last night in the 2nd half where I honestly got confused and forgot which team was the home team. I looked at the unis for a second and thought, no wait. UH is in the black. UH made a layup and then went down, stopped temple, and temple got a foul on the rebound. You could hear a needle drop in the arena. There wasnt any eruption from the made basket to keep the lead nor a sound when temple fouled.

Bulldog1, in another thread you mentioned players that turn into pivotal players late in the season. Those are the ones I am looking at down the stretch. Their play will make the others jobs easier if they truely step up. Our scoring will increase as a whole as they carry more responsibility.

I see Cobb, Ellis and kj stepping up in March

Don't get me wrong about Ellis, he is a defensive beast. He just seems to get lost in the offense, or overlooked! The cats show streaks of brilliance every year, but they often tighten up when things get tough. We need those guys to be confident, even when they aren't dropping shots. That is what I see with Evans, he doesn't seem to get psyched out when the shots don't fall. The best teams out there get more shots per game.

evans. better free throw shooter and can operate better from triple threat position

I'm not sure he is quite ready yet. When he misses it seems like it's almost always long. I would say 3/4 misses are long. To me that means he gets a little too jacked up with adrenaline as a frosh. Next year I suspect he will be much more comfortable.

That being said he made a great play late in the game vs Uconn
