I'm not sure he is quite ready yet. When he misses it seems like it's almost always long. I would say 3/4 misses are long. To me that means he gets a little too jacked up with adrenaline as a frosh. Next year I suspect he will be much more comfortable.

That being said he made a great play late in the game vs Uconn

What ive noticed from Evans is he needs to be set when he gets the ball to shoot. There have been times where he is running up the floor, trailing the play a bit and gets a pass around the 3 point line. If when he receives the ball he takes a step or two forward before he shoots( no dribble) those are usually the ones he misses pretty badly on. So what I would recommend for now until he gets an off season to work on it is, if he isnt set and ready to shoot, use your pump fake and take it to the hoop or work for that smooth pull up jumper

Coach I've noticed the same thing. When players run at him he rushes a bit. All in all he has had a great season. He'll be better next year both on offense and defense. Young players tent to struggle more defensively then on offense. He gets some bocks but many are from behind and I have to question is that help defense or not being able to stay in front of your man. Probably a combination. Really like his future.

His defense has been amazing lately. His closeouts on Uconn shooters last game was very well done. Also, once they pump faked, he was still able to stay with his man off the dribble. I thought he had his best defensive game of the season last game. Improvements don't have to only come in the offseason. He is improving every facet of his game right in front of our eyes.

I actually noticed that too. A few times I thought he was going to bite on the fake, but somehow had enough body control to go for the block while still keeping his feet so he could follow the ball when the guy didnt shoot

Don't get me wrong about Ellis, he is a defensive beast. He just seems to get lost in the offense, or overlooked! The cats show streaks of brilliance every year, but they often tighten up when things get tough. We need those guys to be confident, even when they aren't dropping shots. That is what I see with Evans, he doesn't seem to get psyched out when the shots don't fall. The best teams out there get more shots per game.

I wouldn't pass ellis ball unless it was on a lob, he's a SR thats had way to many chances to establish himself on in post. he has get his points the junkyard way on put backs or dunks. Ellis had nba on his mind to start season and felt some level of entitlement, thinks he's came back down to earth and dominate on his level rest of year.

He certainly is getting better every game in all areas. I agree his defense last game was his best this season.

I've never been on the hate Mick band wagon, but I haven't exactly been his staunch supporter, either. This year he has certainly frustrated me...but I think this post is pretty fair -

I just dont get how people think mick raised us from ashes. If any thing he dug his own grave thinking recruiting was going to be sweet and basically saying he didn't want the freshmen off 06 team. he got a Mc donald all american in his first year, hasn't got one since. downey and tilford could've helped mick his first couple years. local high school basketball probably was hotter than ever he came out of it with only Yancy. mick wanted a basketball team to resemble syracuse and play like lousiville. hasn't happened yet and recruiting has actually went DOWN over years. Mick needs either step down or get some new blood on sidelines with better aau connections and developmental training. I wanted mick before AK was even leaving i always loved mick as a coach but hes defeated no longer has drive like he once did. Hes happy with making tournament and seeing all his players graduate. has turned into a grandpa real quick. none of us would let our mc donalds all american son play for mick if he wasn't uc coach. either get back animated on sideline or give new young coach the keys to sideline. giving up playing lack of talent been old, you recruited the talent deal with it or hit highway

Outside practice, what is the relationship. across the team? Are they tight?

look like it from the games. i see kj troy shaq out a lot together on facebook. i aint ever seen them get mad at each other. they even laugh at moore boneheaded plays

If we sell out SMU according to the stats on go bearcats.com our attendance will be slightly up from last year coming in at 9,415. We suffered from some sunday afternoon homes games and a lot of games over fall/winter break. I believe that comes in third in conference behind uconn and Memphis.

Jon Rothstein's said on his podcast that KU's streak of Big 12 titles is the 2nd most impressive feat in the history of college basketball. That's why I care so much where we finish in the AAC. It does matter. No one should ever have a better record than us in this conference. Winning the AAC should be our goal every single year. Coach Cronin hasn't seemed to see it that way this year...maybe bc we haven't been in position to control our own destiny. But I still think winning the league is something we need to put more of an emphasis on.

Jacob, you'll get no argument from me on winning the AAC. Cronin's offensive/defensive philosophy will have to be adjusted with the shorter shot clock. Ironically, we have always been a team that plays great defense but struggles shooting with the new rules and games being called tighter, we will have to focus on shooting strength over defense to continue to compete. Big, strong athletes are going to change to big, fast athletes to play basketball. Scoring is the name of the game now.

Finiahed the year at 57.8 pts/40 minutes in AAC road games. Can't even describe how disappointing this really is to think about. But look how we play. We all have said it a million times. No point in watching a coin-flip, slowest pace in America brand of basketball. We all know how this season will end, even if we do make the tournament. And it will end with us scoring in the 50s. Again. We're really good at playing a style we know for a fact doesn't win jack sh*t in March.

2013-2014: 65.2 points/40 minutes in AAC road games

2014-2015: 56.8 points/40 minutes in AAC road games

2015-2016: 57.8 points/40 minutes in AAC road games
