1. We need to cancel our trips to Miami OH. They can come here every year if they like but we can no longer go there. For the older groups of fans that say it has been tradition for 115 years. We are no longer looking to be the same type of program tht we have been over the last 115 years. If you want to be big time you do not go to MAC schools.

2. WIll the people around me in 116 quit making lame jokes after DJ catches a punt. He is having a great year. Sure he made some mistakes but seriously it is getting old.

3. Pead and Woods are on a different level. Pead looks different than everyone else on the field. He adds a great dynamic to our offense.

4. D is starting to gel. I love Bomar and R. Johnson

5. I like that we saw less designed runs for Zach. We are not a mac school that has 1 playmaker and has to abuse him.

1. Agreed. Maybe as a compromise we agree to do 3 to 1. UC has actually only been traveling to Oxford in the past 25 years or so. They used to always come to Nippert before that.
2. Haha, I sit in 116 also and hear the same thing. It was funny once but it got really old quick. What's more, he's our guy. No need to be heckling one of our players--- one of the best to boot.
3. Agreed.
4. I know it is early, but I think this defense is better than last year's squad. They certainly have more of a mean streak, they love to hit you. I think Bomar and Johnson are two of the reasons why.
5. I was thinking the same thing. I think in the NC State game Zach got like 22 carries. I don't think he carried the ball more than 5-7 times combined in the past two games. Sure helps when Pead is playing at full strength.

1. I am not in favor of completely cancelling the trips to Oxford... in a true rivalry, which this is, even if the past five seasons don't show it, you have to have some balance. I would like to see a 2 for 1 be the norm heading forward. Or, a possible resolution to the problem could be playing the game at a "neutral" field (Paul Brown if you could find a way to attract 45,000+ fans for the game).

2. Woods had a solid game and I'm confident in his ability to learn from his mistakes and use the fuel from people such as the ones you're speaking of to make himself better, like Jordan and so many of the greats have.

3. Isaiah Pead is flourishing right now in Butch's system. It's as if his confidence is growing with each and every carry. He will be EXTREMELY important in Big East play.

4. This defense is exciting. They need to stay healthy, because there is no depth to speak of, especially in the secondary and at LB... but if they can stay healthy they are going to be much better than last year's defense, imo. Whether or not that's more a product of the switch back to the 4-3 rather than playing the 3-4, I don't know.

5. Collaros is always going to be a threat with his feet. I think you'll see the ways in which he is utilized change from game to game depending on the defensive game plan. I certainly think he's more effective as a pass first QB. The throws he made to Binns tonight for his TD's were well placed balls... nice to see those two rekindle that connection right before UofL and Big East play.

Anyone notice Jamar Howard getting in the game late last night? Looks like he's not red-shirting after all and this will be his last season. With the depth problems at WR it's interesting that he hasn't gotten in sooner. Must mean that he didn't live up to the 4 star billing he had coming out of JUCO.

6. Will the fans in the north end zone that don't want to get into the game get seats in other sections. End zones are supposed to be loud and rowdy. I almost got thrown out less than five minutes into the game for standing and cheering. The usher threatened to kick me out and sent a security guy down who knew he had no right to tell me I couldn't stand. Absolutely ridiculous. I'm going to send a letter to Mr. Thomas to get the university's official stance on how they want their fans to act during a game. To have your ushers demand you sit down and not be into the game or risk being ejected is mind boggling to me.

That's always been a big problem with UC athletics and Cincinnati fans in general... I remember being at the Reds Tuesday night Jay Bruce, Central Division clinching game and standing for much of it while 95% of my section was sitting down... I could feel the eyes of a lot of people angrily on the back of my neck but I didn't care... it was a big game and a big moment and I was going to act like a true fan should... I was up and loud.

I completely agree. Most fans at any Cincinnati football game are loudest when our offense is on the field and want to sit down when the defense goes out.... I am pretty sure that is backwards (at least from my perspective). Anyone else notice this too?

Yup. I spent the last 2 years standing in the North Endzone and being told to sit down. I have given up on standing this year because I am sick of having to deal with those idiots. Shoot, they don't even stand up on defensive third downs half the time.

Dude, come down and stand with us. I've been standing for four years and don't plan on sitting. I am going to try to get in touch with Mike Thomas, among other people, to see what the university has to say about it. I can almost guarantee they won't encourage fans to not be loud and rowdy. They've been selling their north end zone as the place for rowdy fans and then they have their ushers telling us to sit down or be ejected.

I know I was being glared at from behind....I even gave the other fans 1st and 2nd down with me sitting down.... But I refuse to give up 3rd down. That is when we should be the loudest and all on our feet. I sit amongst the coaches and players families because when they flipped sidelines we just kept our seats. I know the coaches families want it loud but I think some of the players families are for lack of a better term pretty lame when it comes to cheering. Stand up and be loud everyone!!!!

I sent a letter to several higher ups in UC's athletic dept. and so far have gotten two responses. Here is a copy of one of them:

David,

Thank you for this email. Just so you know, I am going to clear this issue with our ushers and games management staff. The police/security officer whom you dealt with was completely correct as far as policies and procedures and your ability to stand up and cheer. We have ALWAYS encouraged that as I personally wish that more of our fans took the same approach. This issue will be settled and you should not have a problem again.

Thanks for your continued support. Make sure you bring your A game against USF – we’re going to need all the noise in the building.

Go Bearcats!

This was the exact response I was hoping for. I knew we had every right to stand, thus why the security guard wouldn't throw me out. Hopefully this man is good on his word and the ushers will now tell complaining fans that we have the right to stand. I'll keep you guys informed of anything else that comes of this.

Great to hear... the next step AFTER filling Nippert for every single game is filling it with fans that understand how to be loud and create a true home field advantage... like all other things, it will come with time.
