With the edition of Tulane and E. Carolina the Big East is going to hell. UC can't get out fast enough.

Here's an Andy Katz article from ESPN about Cincy trying to join the ACC:

http://espn.go.com/college-sports/s...i-bearcats-making-strong-push-join-acc-source

Katz updated his original posting actually listing some of the facts that UC has used in their pitch.

• The Bearcats were one of only six teams to finish in the top 25 of the final USA Today football and men's basketball polls (joining Michigan,Michigan State, Florida State, Baylor and Wisconsin).

• Ohio is a new and fertile recruiting ground and expands the geographic footprint of the ACC. Ohio had the fifth-most NCAA Division I football signees in 2012.

• Cincinnati's endowment is more than $1 billion, which is 26th nationally and more than six members of the ACC, and twice the size of Maryland's.

• The school is tied for 34th among public research universities, according to the Center for Measuring University Performance. That's in line with several other ACC schools.

• Cincinnati has nine Fortune 500 companies in the area, plus is the 35th-ranked TV market.

Number 1 does not matter, if athletic ability mattered Rutgers would not be going to the Big Ten

Number 2 not a real great point, what really matters is number of TV sets in your market area

Number 3, 4, and 5 are excellent selling points

I hope we are courting the Big 12 at the same time...because I am not sure a move to the ACC makes sense right now unless the Big 12 disolves or the 16 team mega conference thing never materializes. If we move it would likely be temporary if we hope to be a part of the grand scheme. Perhaps we maintain our value with a move to the ACC and away from the Big East so we can eventually be added to another conference later on?? We know the Big 10 is out. The only question would be if the Pac can get the top schools from the Big 12 and weaken that conference enough that the ACC remains the last of the Big 4 conferences.

If I were the Big 12 I would be seriously thinking of making sure that doesn't happen by adding some teams now so they don't risk crumbling. The ACC is at the mercy of the SEC and Big 10 right now...and perhaps even the Big 12. With all the rumors the ACC will eventually be decimated unless ND decides to commit maybe. The rumors are that FSU, NC, DUKE, Clemson, Virginia, VA tech, Geargia Tech, etc will be gobbled up. They can all make more money in the SEC or Big 10 networks. ESPN is going to have to really pony up big bucks to save the ACC.
