Every year i dream of one of our guys coming out of nowhere and becoming a top player in the country. I have that dream about JJ. That dream is never realistic and entirely improbable, but thats why they call them dreams.

If anyone thinks JJ looks like Hicks they need some glasses. I think Rubles is a much better player than JJ. If Lawrence is starting, I think it's with Rubles next to him. But Lawrence will probably need some adjustment time, same with TC.

I disagree. Jackson will be starting as a senior, and as a captain. Not to mention he is the best option at the 5 spot (not sure if that is comforting though).

The only question is who runs point and I think it's Caupain.

It will likely be Guyn to start the season. I think Mick will want to see how he plays without looking over his should (at Cash). Gotta see what Guyn can give before the meat of the schedule, IMO.

I was thinking the same thing, I honestly like guyn, I think he and caupain will split time throughout the season.

correct me if I'm wrong but I believe since mick has been here there has only been 3 freshman that have started for him

Deonta Vaughn
Yancy Gates
Lance Stephenson

I don't count Cash because he was a red-shirt, but if Caupain does start he is in some pretty good company.

I can't say for sure but I think Bishop and Dixon may have started at some point as frosh...maybe even JJ.

It also doesn't sound like TC will be starting out of the gate because he needs to get better at D. Mick isn't the type of guy that starts frosh just to give them game experience. He is more likely IMO to use the bench to teach and motivate our newcomers.

Bishop earned time on the court because he was solid, played good D and wasn't careless with the ball. He wasn't asked to do anything special offensively. Of course this was back when we were limited with options but this is the pattern of how to get on the court with Mick if you are not a super talent. I don't expect that to change...especially now that we have a deeper and more talented roster.

We will see the vets starting until someone else has proven we have to have them on the court. I might add that starting a game is less important than minutes. Starts can be given because of seniority or effort...but playing time will tell us who Mick thinks is the real deal.

I like the timing (I work downtown). Fountain square gets a great crowd at lunchtime so this is a good chance to show the team off. I'm sure they'll have other events that kids and others will get a chance to watch them.

Well yeah you like it, you work downtown lol. I think the event sounds awesome and its great exposure. I just think a large part of the fan base is going to miss a good opportunity to meet the team for the first time.

Love the idea. I hope this is the introduction of UC basketball to downtown. Hopefully next is a renovated US Bank Arena for UC to play in. Let's make the University of Cincinnati the city's team!

I like the idea. Yeah it's not available to everyone, but it's available to a large portion of business people that work downtown that make money and can afford to buy tickets in the future. I think it's a great marketing plan. The guy in the ticket office told me they were going to try to hold an open house or possibly an open practice to tie in with a football game this season. Don't know if that is still going to happen, but it would be another good way to showcase the team.

I was thinking the same thing. Its awesome that its downtown in the heart of the city. Cincy is UC's team and could be a great step to something bigger!
